Foxen Makes Palma's Day

Level 9 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Action folded to Alex Foxen on the button and the always vocal Nick Palma goaded him to make a move from the big blind.

"Go ahead, make my day!" Palma said in what sounded like a New Yorker rendition of Dirty Harry.

Foxen did raise to 2,600 and the small blind called, while Palma also came along. Action checked to Foxen on the flop of {q-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{6-Clubs} and he bet 2,700. The small blind check-raised to 8,000 and Palma folded as he told another player at the table that he hadn't smoked a cigarette since the 2022 World Series of Poker. Foxen also folded.

"It would've gotten through if he didn't have ace-queen," Foxen said.

"I was going to raise if he didn't," said Palma.

"I would have three-bet!" replied Foxen. "I had the perfect hand: ten-four of diamonds."

"Yeah, you could have turned the world," agreed Palma.

2022 GPI Female Player of the Year Chips Up

Level 9 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Cherish Andrews
Cherish Andrews

Cherish Andrews, who just hours ago was officially named the 2022 GPI Female Player of the Year, scooped a big pot and eliminated an opponent when she got to showdown with {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} on a board of {j-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{5-Spades}{8-Spades}{k-Diamonds}.

The all-in opponent showed {j-Spades}{4-Spades} for a worse kicker and a third player in the hand showed {9-Spades}{7-Spades} for a missed flush draw to earn Andrews the pot.

"Nice hand!" commented table mate Martin Zamani.

"Thank you," she replied.

Across the room, overall GPI and Mid-Major POY Stephen Song sits comfortably with a stack of 180,000

Zack Wins Set Over Set

Level 9 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Dan Zack
Dan Zack

Dan Zack was on the button in a heads-up pot against an early position opponent on a board of {j-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}.

The opponent bet 22,600 on the turn and Zack called. The {5-Spades} river completed the board and the opponent bet 47,000. Zack sat motionless before announcing all in to send his opponent into the tank.

The opponent gave a frustrated laugh and eventually called off for his final 25,000. Zack showed {j-Spades}{j-Diamonds} for jacks full of fives and the opponent was forced to show {3-Diamonds}{3-Spades} for a lower full house after both players had flopped sets.

Joey Weissman

Joey Weissman was in the cutoff in a three-way pot against the hijack and big blind on a board of {k-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{3-Hearts}.

Weissman bet 5,000 and the big blind check-raised to 15,000. The hijack folded and Weissman moved all in for 15,400. The big blind called for just 400 more.

Joey Weissman: {k-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}
