Martin Kabrhel Bags the Chip Lead on Day 1 of the BSOP $100,000 Super High Roller Main Event
Martin Kabrhel was up to his usual antics on Day 1 of the Brazilian Series of Poker (BSOP) Super High Roller Series R$500,000 ($100,000 US) Super High Roller Main Event, and that included accumulating a lot of chips quickly.
The Czech superstar, already with one trophy this week, shot out to an early lead today and was the first to climb above 1,000,000. Cries of "Casino Royale" rang through the WTC Sheraton in Sao Paulo today, as Kabrhel ended up with 1,550,000 and the chip lead over the remaining 17 players.

Gabriel Tavares survived a big flip against Thiago Crema late in the day and was the third member of the million-chip club with 1,253,000. Vladimir Minko (966,000) and $50,000 Super High Roller champion Felipe Boianovsky (945,000) round out the top five.

Renan Bruschi, despite Kabrhel’s offer of a $2 million bet he wouldn’t survive the day, managed to do so thanks to a double up to 378,000 on the last hand of the night. Alisson Piekazewicz (266,000), Yuri Dzivielevski (137,000), and Mehdi Chaoui (85,000) are all coming back on short stacks for Day 2.
A total of 24 players entered on Day 1. Among those who busted during the day and didn’t reenter were Dietrich Fast, who was the first casualty when he ran his nines into Zizka’s jacks, as well as Ottomar Ladva and Fabiano Kovalski. They and other hopefuls still have until the end of Level 15 tomorrow to enter.
The action on Day 2 picks up on Level 11 with blinds of 5,000/10,000 and a 10,000 big blind ante. Levels remain 40 minutes until Level 16, when they will be extended to 60 minutes.
PokerNews will be back tomorrow at 2 p.m. following all the action as the prize pool is determined and the field plays on to a final table.
