Franke Really Sits Down

Level 3 : 75/150, 0 ante

Martin "Franke" von Zweigbergk came back from his break and we learned he did actually play three hands earlier in the tournament. He came back to his seat with no chips in front of him.

"You have already been eliminated," said Coolbet founder Jan Svendsen with a laugh.

"No!" said von Zweigbergk.

Tournament Director Teresa Nousiainen then informed Franke that he was merely moved tables.

"No!" said von Zweigbergk again which got some smiles from players at his old table.

Franke Almost Sits Down

Level 3 : 75/150, 0 ante

Martin "Franke" von Zweigbergk is at the same table as two of his friends. However, he hasn't yet played a hand.

We got bluffed to some degree as he was about to sit down in a seat in between two friends in Coolbet Founder Jan Svendsen and and Jon Kyte.

To add to the banter, Coolbet offers odds on players to win the Coolbet Open as well as head-to-head last longer props which only count if at least one of the players make the money.

As fate would have it Svendsen and von Zweigbergk were matched up in the head-to-head bet with von Zweigbergk listed as a slight underdog.

We doubt both players are afraid to reenter as many times as it will take, so we will keep an eye on this battle. Thus far Svendsen has an early advantage with about twice as many chips as his neighbor.

Kiviloo Gets Bluffed

Level 2 : 50/100, 0 ante

Rauno Kiviloo opened from the hijack and called a three-bet from his opponent in the big blind.

Kiviloo check-called a bet of 1,500 after the flop came {6-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{6-Spades}. He checked again after the {a-Clubs} appeared on the turn and his opponent fired out for 2,500.

Kiviloo went into the tank for more than a minute before he folded his cards.

His opponent quickly showed he had {j-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} for a bluff and collected a reasonably sized early pot.

Jon Kyte Joins the Field

Jon Kyte just took the seat that was previously occupied by the field's first player eliminated Aleksei Smirnov.

Kyte is fresh off winning a Cash Game Festival trophy last week in Tallinn and is hoping to add a tournament trophy to go alongside it this week.

Aleksei Smirnov Eliminated

Level 2 : 50/100, 0 ante

It took more than an hour before the first elimination took place with Estonia's Aleksei Smirnov leaving the tournament area.

While we didn't catch his elimination hand, we did overhear Martin "Franke" von Zweigbergk shout from across the room about the hand, "this is unfair!"

We found out that most of Smirnov's stack was lost to mostly to Coolbet founder Jan Svendsen that nailed his runner-runner.

Smirnov can reenter the tournament if he so chooses an unlimited amount of times today, tomorrow, or even on Friday before Day 2 kicks off at 1 p.m.

Many Finnish Players Expected

Level 2 : 50/100, 0 ante

Many Finnish players are expected to play in the Coolbet Open Main Event. Among the players from Finland, we noticed already in the field include Taisto Siitonen, Tomi Sundqvist, and Kyosti Isberg.

In addition, well-known Estonian local players Mauri Dorbek, Rauno Kiviloo, and Mark Joa have also joined the early action.

Kings Haven't Been Kind to Garamaga

Level 1 : 25/50, 0 ante
Argo Garamaga
Argo Garamaga

The first blind level is winding down with all the players in the field thus far still in their seats.

It doesn't mean that some players aren't already getting short on chips. Estonia's Argo Garamaga, who last night won a ticket to the Main Event through a freebuy tournament, is among those players and just stepped out in the hallway.

"I will lose fewer chips if I take a break," Garamaga said to his table.

We looked at his stack and it is down to around 10,000. It sounds like there was some bad luck involved in his stack being cut by two-thirds as he shared with PokerNews that he has already lost with pocket kings twice.
