Volov Wins a Massive Pot in a Blind vs. Blind Flip

Level 7 : 300/600, 600 ante
Coolbet Open
Coolbet Open

Tauri Taimre opened to 1,200 from the small blind. Vladimir Volov three-bet to 3,500 from the big blind before Taimre four-bet to 10,000.

Volov five-bet to 26,000 and Taimre paused for less than a minute before he six-bet jammed for about 77,000. Volov, who barely had his opponent covered, made the call.

Tauri Taimre: {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}
Vladimir Volov: {j-Clubs}{j-Spades}

It was a classic flip situation with Volov slightly ahead before the flop. The {10-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{q-Clubs} flop didn't pair Taimre but did give him two more outs for a potential gutshot broadway straight draw.

The {6-Diamonds} on the turn and the {q-Diamonds} on the river were both safe cards for Volov and he doubled up to a huge stack of around 160,000. Meanwhile, Taimre shook his head on the way out in what could have been if he instead won the hand.

Top Set Holds for Rouhonen

Level 6 : 200/400, 400 ante

The action began with Joel Lindpere open limping from early position for 400 before Antti Ruohonen raised from the hijack to 1,500. Juuso Lakka called from the button as did Martin Mandmets from the small blind and Lindpere.

Flop: {a-Spades}{q-Spades}{7-Hearts}

The action folded to Rouhonen who bet 5,000. Lakka folded before Mandmets raised to 15,000 with a little less behind. Lindpere folded and Rouhonen asked to see how much Mandmets had left before he jammed a big stack more than covering his opponent.

Mandmets called and turned over {9-Spades}{7-Spades} for bottom pair and a flush draw and needed some help to beat Rouhonen who turned over {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs} for top set.

The {9-Clubs} on the turn and the {3-Hearts} on the river were bricks for Mandmets and he was out for the second time today.

Iglesias Doubles

Level 6 : 200/400, 400 ante

Steven Iglesias, who is blind and is using Arild Torgersen as an assistant throughout the Coolbet Open, agreed to an interview with PokerNews on the break. He will likely be in a good mood as he just doubled up after cracking aces.

Timo Jamsen three-bet preflop with 2,000 from the blinds and got a call from Iglesias in late position. Jansen then bet about 3,000 after the {q-Clubs}{7-Spades}{8-Hearts} came on the flop before he called a jam from Iglesias for about 16,500.

Steven Iglesias: {8-Clubs}{7-Clubs}
Timo Jansen: {a-Hearts}{a-Spades}

Iglesias flopped two-pair and needed to fade a few outs from Jansen holding an over pair. The {5-Diamonds} on the turn and the {6-Clubs} on the river were safe cards for Iglesias and he found himself a double-up. Meanwhile, Jansen, who had his aces cracked, was down to crumbs after the hand.

Westby Wins a Big Flip

Level 6 : 200/400, 400 ante

Tony Andre Westby had a deep run in the last Coolbet Open Main Event in October before he bowed out in 11th place for €2,050. Time will tell if he will experience another deep run this time around.

So far so good for Westby as he just won a huge flip against Odd Levi Paulsen. We are unsure if it was a three-bet or a four-bet to 2,500 by Paulsen that led Westby to raise to 8,000. Paulsen then jammed over the top more than covering the around 32,000 in Westby's stack and Westby made the instant call.

Odd Levi Paulsen: {3-Spades}{3-Diamonds}
Tony Andre Westby: {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}

It was a flip before the flop but Westby took a big lead after he paired the {9-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{a-Clubs} flop. Paulsen was drawing to a three after the {4-Diamonds} hit the turn and was left with crumbs in his stack after the {k-Clubs} didn't help him on the river.

Pihela Gets Paid with Top Set

Level 5 : 150/300, 300 ante

Aleksi Korhonen bet 5,500 into a pot of around 8,000 after the {10-Hearts}{9-Spades}{5-Diamonds} came on the flop. Igor Pihela raised it up to 13,000 and Korhonen went into the tank.

After a few minutes, Korhonen declared himself all-in for around 30,000 total and Pihela snap-called.

Korhonen turned over {a-Spades}{j-Hearts} and needed a ton of help to survive with his opponent having top set with {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}. Korhonen remained in his seat even though he was drawing dead after the {4-Diamonds} came on the turn. The {a-Clubs} on the river gave Korhonen, but this wasn't enough to beat Pihela's straight.

Betting in the Dark Doesn't Work for Klein

Level 5 : 150/300, 300 ante

Morten Klein bet 4,000 into a pot of around 6,000 after the {a-Spades}{2-Clubs}{4-Hearts} came on the flop. Touko Berndtson called and Toni Fagerstrom asked to see Klein's stack before he folded.

"Ten thousand," Klein said in the dark as the dealer was about to deal the turn card.

The {8-Spades} came on the turn and Berndtson immediately raised to 50,000, more than covering the 32,000 in chips Klein had behind. Klein paused for about 10 seconds before he made the fold and the dealer sent the pot over the Berndston.
