2024 Coolbet Poker Open
Tuomas Tervonen raised to 1,700 and Ian-Erik Valge three-bet to 4,100. The four-bet shove by Tervonen followed and Valge called after a few seconds of consideration.
Tuomas Tervonen: Q♣Q♦
Ian-Erik Valge: A♦Q♠
The 6♥4♣2♠6♣5♠ board brought no upset and Tervonen doubled for 13,900.
Atli Porsteinsson pushed all-in for the last 7,100 with the 9♠9♦ and was called by fellow Iceland player Hjörtur Davidsson with the A♣K♦ in the small blind.
The pocket pair remained ahead all the way on the 5♠5♣3♠10♠10♣ board as Porsteinsson kept his hopes of a deeper run alive.
Merike Anderson was all-in with A♣9♣ against the K♣K♦ of Johnny Kristiansen soon after the action resumed and spiked a flush draw on the J♣8♣8♦ flop. However, no club or ace came thereafter and Anderson was sent to the rail.
With the flop showing A♦Q♥J♥, Orvar Gudmundsson was already all-in and at risk, awaiting his fate with Mihkel Vitsur and Johan Mattsson still active. The clock was called on Mattsson as he was deep in the tank, and they then eventually checked to the K♥ turn.
Mattsson tanked again a long time and was given thirty seconds. They had run down when he wanted to bet 10,000, but his action was already a check. Vitsur then pushed all-in and Mattsson reluctantly folded after he was called the clock upon again.
Orvar Gudmundsson: A♣3♥
Mihkel Vitsur: 10♦8♦
Gudmundsson needed another heart and got it with the 4♥ river to stay alive. The hand took several minutes into the break and the rail from Iceland left happily.
Level: 7
Blinds: 400/800
Ante: 800
The Day 1b field has grown to 247 entries of which 168 players remain upon completion of level six. All players are now on a 15-minute break and will then aim to complete the last three levels of the day thereafter.
Andreas Hoivold was unable to spin up his short stack and couldn't beat the A♦J♣ of Robert Kallikorm on a board of A♣Q♥7♦A♥Q♠ to hit the rail.
"He is a Norwegian champion," Kjetil Sandnes pointed out to Teemu Kaonpää after Hoivold had left the tournament area.
Edgar Blomso limped first to act and Andri Agustsson moved all-in for 6,000. All other players folded and Blomso called.
Andri Agustsson: 9♦9♠
Edgar Blomso: Q♦Q♣
The dominated pair found no help on the 7♥5♦4♣K♣4♠ runout to send Agustsson to the rail
"You are on a roll," another player at the table said and a floor added "and you are on the move," as Blomso was instantly moved to a newly opened table after the hand.
