Flashback: Anders Bjorkheim Wins 2024 Coolbet Open Tallinn Main Event

Level 3 : Blinds 100/300, 300 ante
Anders Bjorkheim
Anders Bjorkheim

Last year, Anders Bjorkheim from Norway was the winner of the 2024 Coolbet Open Tallinn €550 Main Event at the Chesterfield Poker Club. The seventh edition of the live poker event by the local gaming company drew a field of 504 entries across two starting days. The €244,440 prize pool was split among the top 62 finishers, most of which were hailing from several Scandinavian countries.

Bjorkheim entered the final day eighth in chips out of 27 hopefuls with 30 big blinds and was responsible for the first three eliminations before capping off a strong performance by dispatching every single opponent on the final table to collect the €50,000 top prize. Despite his overwhelming lead during the late stages, the three-handed battle with eventual runner-up Keimo Suominen and third-placed Seyed Tabaei lasted for nearly four hours.

Puotiniemi Wins Big Without Showdown

Level 4 : Blinds 200/400, 400 ante

John Sara made it 800 to go in the hijack. Antti-Jussi Puotiniemi then three-bet to 2,000 on the button, and Sara called. Sara quickly check-called Puotiniemi's bets of 2,800 on the 48A flop and 3,300 on the 9 turn before the 9 hit the river.

Sara suddenly led out for a massive bet of 18,000. Puotiniemi was a bit surprised, but he quickly called. Sara did not want to show his bluff as he sent his cards into the muck, and Puotiniemi followed suit, dragging the large pot to soar above two starting stacks.

Laanemets Approaching Six Figures

Level 4 : Blinds 200/400, 400 ante

Gert Laanemets under the gun and Pekka Laukkanen in the neighboring seat had created a pot of 11,000 when the dealer completed the 9KK3A board. Laanemets fired a bet of 10,000, which Laukkanen verbally called before he showed A9.

Laanemets quickly tabled KQ for trip kings, and Laukkanen took two blue T-5,000 chips from his stack to pay his opponent.

Bodvarsson Busts After Bluff

Level 5 : Blinds 200/500, 500 ante

Big blind Petteri Laiho checked the 7995 turn over to Haukur Bodvarsson in the hijack, who fired a pot-sized bet of 7,000. Laiho called, leading to the 2 river.

Laiho thought for a while before he checked it over, after which Bodvarsson quickly bet 16,000. Laiho sighed as he tossed in a call, but Bodvarsson quickly tapped the table to let his opponent know he made a good call.

Bodvarsson tabled 44 for an underpair, leaving Laiho to take the pot with Q7 for a higher two pair. Not much later, Bodvarsson was seen leaving the tournament area as he had lost the 21,000 chips he had left himself behind.

Kaarel Vohandu raised his button to 3,000, after which Jonas Pettersen committed his stack of 12,700 from the big blind. Vohandu asked for a count before he called off.

Jonas Pettersen: KQ All in
