The Snap Shove

Vincent Maglio tossed out 18,500 from the blinds with the board reading {10-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{2-Spades}. Brent Johnson, his opponent, made the call.

The {10-Diamonds} completed the board, and Maglio plopped 28,000 down in front of him. The second the chips hit the felt, Johnson announced, "all in."

Maglio let out a rather long sigh, then mucked his hand.

Stefanski is Head and Shoulders Above Field Entering Day 2

David Stefanski has all of the chips
David Stefanski has all of the chips

Day 2 of the 2012 DeepStacks Poker Tour Mohegan Sun National Championship is set to begin in the next 30 minutes, and to say that David Stefanski has a large chip lead would be an understatement.

Thanks to a massive pot he won against Nesrine Kourdourli, Stefanski bagged 348,100 chips on Day 1. His next closest competitor, Michael Guadano, bagged 192,000 chips. For those of you counting at home, that's a gap of 156,100 chips or 130 big blinds.

Can Stefanski, who has 290 big blinds himself, maintain his big stack and survive to make Day 3?

Joining Stefanski and Guadano on Day 2 are notables Vanessa Selbst, Matt Glantz, Scott Baumstein, Jared Jaffee, Ashton Griffin, Allen Kessler, Greg Ostrander, and Matt Matros. Selbst is currently seventh in chips with 162,600, with thanks to a hand in which she flopped Broadway.

Despite Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi busting three times yesterday, the DeepStacks Pros held their own. Tristan Wade, Mike Matusow, Chip Jett, and Darrel Dier all made Day 2, with Matusow leading the bunch with 140,200 chips.

We expect that Mizrachi will fire a fourth and final bullet.

Play will begin today at 12:00 p.m. EST. The plan is to play until there are 36 players remaining, at which time the players will redraw for seats at six, six-handed tables, and bag and tag.

We hope you keep it here for your live up-to-the-minute updates from Mohegan Sun!
