I've Got the Cournut's

[Removed:133] has knocked out an opponent, calling his preflop shove and finding himself very much in the lead with {J-Hearts} {J-Diamonds} against his opponent's {4-Diamonds} {4-Clubs}. The board came down {3-Spades} {3-Hearts} {7-Clubs} {5-Clubs} {8-Diamonds} and Cournut's opponent put his hood up and stalked off, while the TD scampered after him, calling, "Excuse me! Excuse me!" to no avail.

Royal Flush, Ah Ha Ha

What looked to be a swift and clinical split pot for short-stacked Nick Maieritsch turned out rather nicer as he made the first royal flush of the tournament to double up to around 10,000.

Maieritsch: {A-Diamonds} {K-Diamonds}
Opponent: {A-Hearts} {K-Spades}

Flop: {9-Clubs} {6-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds}

Maieritsch: "Ooh!"

Turn: {J-Diamonds}

Maieritsch: "Oh yes!"

River: {Q-Diamonds}

Maieritsch: "AH HA HA HA!"

TD: "Er, we have a royal flush on table seven... Can someone make... Oh no, is too late, never mind."

109 Remaining

The final level of Day 1a is underway. At the current rate of eliminations, there will be around 90 players or so who will advance to Day 2.

Get Set, Go! All In

Stefano Fiore won a pot quietly -- it seems the shouting and running around is only for when the chips go in preflop. This time he made it as far as the turn, getting all his chips in with the board reading {J-Spades} {9-Spades} {6-Spades} {9-Hearts}. His opponent folded {A-?} {J-?} with no spades face-up, and Fiore showed him pocket sixes for a set.

Annette's stack...
Annette's stack...
The Norwegian wunderkind Annette Obrestad seems to be doing quite well. She's the chip leader at her table with a 42,000 stack. She's among the overall chip leaders and trying to catch Arnaud Mattern, who slipped to 50,000.

Camel Gets the Hump

Camel deserts us
Camel deserts us
Keith "Camel" Hawkins is a goner. He'd been sitting on a minuscule stack for at least a couple levels, and his end came when shoved his mere 2,150 in under the gun. A reraise from another player got rid of everyone else, and they were on their proverbial backs.

Camel: {A-Diamonds} {8-Spades}
Opponent: {K-Clubs} {K-?}

Board: {Q-Hearts} {5-Hearts} {5-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds} {4-Spades}
