Deflected Bullets

Guillaume 'The Force' de la Gorce just donned his bullet-proof vest as he deflected the bullets with the paltry holding of {9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}. Up against the two red aces, {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}, de la Gorce managed to get there on the river of a {9-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} board to double through to 4,000.

Best Behaviour

Since they decided to skip the dinner break and just play eight levels straight through, we are now approaching the final level of the day with 107 players remaining. If there are any PokerNews' management watching, then please be assured that we shall be tucked up in bed before ten and NOT spending the extra time drinking at the bar and flirting with the local women.

Stressed-Mann?

The young German, Johannes Strassmann has been knocked out. He was all-in with {A-?} {J-?} but couldn't catch the knave that would have gotten him out of a stick spot against {A-?} {K-?}.

No Way Jose!

Osman Mustanoglu is out after losing a big pot of around 50,000 to Jose Luis Navarro of Spain. I didn't see the action, except a board of {J-Spades} {K-Clubs} {9-Clubs} {6-Hearts} {3-Hearts} out with all the chips being pushed to Navarro's {J-Diamonds} {9-Hearts}, while Mustanoglu bemoaned his opponent's good fortune. As he left the table, the latter flung his cards at the dealer, clearly not happy with the result of such an important pot.

Jelinek Takes One Down

Steve Jelinek raised to 900 from the button and the big blind defended. On the {8-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{2-Spades} flop, The Jelly took it down with a bet of 1,600. He now has just over the 18,000 mark.

Paint it Black

Although he lost around 10,000 since my last count, Luke Schwartz has managed to scoop that back, and then some, after a mammoth encounter just moments ago.

With the board reading {J-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}, both players checked, only for Schwartz's opponent to lead out with a bet of 6,000 on the {9-Diamonds} river.

Schwartz blew his cheeks out and shook his head slightly before announcing that he was all in for around 25,000. After a few minutes, his opponent made the call. Sadly for him, and his tournament life, his {K-?}{10-?} for the flopped straight was good, but not good enough against Schwartz's {A-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}.

Schwartz now on around 55,000.

Danish Bacon!

Look out ladies, he's a-coming!
Look out ladies, he's a-coming!
Gus Hansen is out of the tournament having been unable to negotiate this level with his meagre stack, despite borrowing Theo Jorgensen's supposedly lucky hat for a period of time.

Golser A Gonna!

Marcus Golser has gambled and lost in a big pot against Mika Paasonen. I didn't see the action, other than the final bet which was an additional 7,800 to Paasonen to call after he had reraised Golser from the button against the Austrian's midposition raise.

Paasonen made the call and Golser revealed he only had {Q-Hearts} {7-Hearts}, but was quite live against Paasonen's {A-Clubs} {K-Spades}. The board came down {A-Hearts} {8-Spades} {9-Clubs}, but a big draw inducing {5-Hearts} appeared on the turn to induce an "Ooh," from Golser. The river disappointed him though, the {J-Clubs} leaving him to just shake hands and head to the rail.
