Vanessa Thobert Doubles Up

Vanessa Thobert's 8,000 remaining chips sailed into the middle on a flop of {J-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} and her opponent quickly called. He tabled {J-Spades} {10-Hearts} for two pair, but was in disastrous shape against Thobert's {7-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds} for the flopped straight and a straight flush redraw. The {4-Hearts} on the turn and the {5-Spades} on the river didn't change things and Thobert doubled her stack to 16,000 while her unfortunate opponent was left on fumes with only 2,900 remaining.

Marcin On

A double up for a short-stacked Marcin Biedziak, who got his chips in on the river of a {6-?} {J-?} {Q-?} {5-?} {K-?} board. His opponent was holding {K-?} {6-?} for two pair, but Biedziak was holding {A-?} {10-?} for a straight to double up to around 6,500.

Heeeere's Johnny

Looking rather more as though he's having a good time is extrovert Norwegian Johnny Lodden. He was last seen calling an opponent's bet of 650 on the flop and then pushing said opponent off the pot with a 1,525 river bet on the {5-Spades} {4-Diamonds} {7-Hearts} {J-Hearts} {2-Hearts} board. Up to around 15,000.

More for Torre

Somehow rather short-stacked already, Jean-Mathieu Torre has enjoyed some good luck, going all in on the turn of a {4-Hearts} {2-Hearts} {9-Spades} {2-Clubs} board with {Q-Spades} {2-Spades} against his opponent's {7-Hearts} {9-Hearts}. The {8-Diamonds} on the river did nothing for his opponent, and Torre doubled up to a respectable 8,000 or so.

Ziigmund and Zaggin'

With the action folded to Ilari "Ziigmund" Sahamies on the button, he raised to 150 and both blinds called. The flop was {10-Spades} {5-Spades} {5-Clubs}. The small blind checked, the big blind bet 250, Sahamies called and the small blind called. The turn fell the {9-Hearts} and both blinds quickly checked, while Sahamies fired out an 850-chip bet which was called by both opponents. The river was the {4-Clubs} and once again the blinds checked to Sahamies, who thought over the situation for several minutes before betting 500. The small blind folded and the big blind called.

Sahamies is up to 12,000 and off to a nice start.

Sahamies turned up the winner with {A-Hearts} {10-Clubs} and the big blind mucked.

Mattern Cracks Aces

On a flop of {10-Clubs} {10-Spades} {2-Spades}, a middle position player led out for 400, Arnaud Mattern raised to 1,250, and the MP player called. The turn brought the {5-Spades} and both players quickly checked. The river was the {Q-Diamonds}. The MP player fired another 1,000-chip bullet, Mattern raised to 2,850, and the MP player snap-called.

Mattern turned up {8-Diamonds} {10-Spades} for trips and his opponent disgustedly mucked his {A-Hearts} {A-Diamonds} face-up before cursing under his breath in his native tongue.
