No Mini-Stack for Minieri

Small and mighty
Small and mighty
A good start for the miniature Italian, as Dario Minieri pushes Mika Puro off a sizable pot. Puro bet out 3,000 on the turn of a {7-Diamonds} {4-Clubs} {9-Hearts} {5-Spades} board, and then flat-called a raise to 7,050 from Minieri. Come the {3-Clubs} river, though, Puro checked, and then quietly folded when Minieri bet 13,000 -- easily enough to cover Puro.

With that, Minieri has broken the 50,000 mark and is firmly up there with the chip leaders.

Lodden Bisected

An early disaster for Johnny Lodden, as he doubles up tablemate and fellow Norwegian Thomas Floan. Floan was holding pocket jacks on a {3-?} {9-?} {10-?} {10-?} {8-?} board by the end of the hand; whatever Lodden was holding, it wasn't good enough to save him and he was forced to cough up around 20,000 chips to Floan, neatly bisecting his own stack.

To the dulcet sound of Mark Teltscher complaining about how long it was taking to count the chips, Lodden was down to 20,000.

Play Is Underway

And they're off!

To a thoroughly inappropriate soundtrack of "We Built This City On Rock & Roll" on the casino stereo, cards are in the air and the serious business of making it to the money has begun.

Some interesting table shares to watch today include:

Table ElkY/Arnaud Mattern/Sebastian Ruthenberg

Table Johannes Strassmann/Dario Minieri/Gino Alacqua

Table Isabelle Mercier/Michael Keiner/Jonas Molander

Fireworks from those expected any minute now...

Welcome Back to Warsaw

Chipleader Roland de Wolfe
Chipleader Roland de Wolfe
Our 109 remaining players will reconvene in about half an hour's time here at the Casino Poland Warsawza, deep in the bowels of the Hyatt Regency Hotel. There's a good chance we'll reach the money today, 24 of those 109 going home with at least €7,038 for their efforts. Loads of top pros remain in the field, led by Roland de Wolfe, Antony Lellouche and Ludovic Lacay.

With a good amount of short stacks in the field there should be significant bloodletting in the early levels. Join us for all the action!
