Minieri Soul-Reads Barbosa

On a flop of {10-Spades} {6-Hearts} {5-Hearts} the small blind checked, Joao Barbosa bet 4,500, Dario Minieri called and the small blind folded. When the {5-Clubs} came on the turn Barbosa bet again, 13,000 this time, and Minieri made the call. The river was the {Q-Clubs} and Barbosa fired a 27,000 third bullet, giving Minieri pause.

Minieri started talking through the hand as his masseuse continued to rub his shoulders.

"You have 5-6...no, K-5...a flush draw? But you bet the turn. Will you show if I fold?"

"If you show your hand, maybe I show mine," replied Barbosa to giggles around the table.

After a good five minutes of dwelling, Minieri called.

"Good call," said Barbosa, showing {4-Spades} {7-Diamonds} for the busted straight draw.

Minieri tabled {J-Hearts} {10-Hearts}, good for the win. He's now up to 137,000 while Barbosa was left with just under 50,000.

Fancy Playing Some Omaha?

If you do, I'm not sure I'd recommend it in the Casino Poland here at the Hyatt tonight -- one particular cash table currently involves Sorel Mizzi, Joe Serock and Josh "JJProdigy" Field battling it out. Yikes.

Falkenstrom Eliminated

Obviously making it back to the cardroom just as they went on break, this reporter was nevertheless rewarded with an exit before trudging the three floors back upstairs to the press room.

Benny Falkenstrom was all in for mere pocket change, and called by Michael Muheim.

Falkenstrom: {A-Hearts} {4-Diamonds}
Muheim: {A-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds}

Board: a boatalicious {Q-Diamonds} {6-Hearts} {5-Clubs} {A-Clubs} {6-Spades}

Down to 27 as the players wander off for 15 minutes away from the tables.

Climbing the Mattern-horn

Josh Gould opened for 6,000 and Andrea Benelli put in a reraise to 18,200. With the action on Arnaud Mattern, he asked Benelli for a count.

"About 55,000," Benelli replied.

Mattern moved all in a few seconds later. Gould gave up his hand and Benelli tanked-- thinking for so long a clock was called on him.

Ultimately, he folded the {Q-Spades} face-up and Mattern raked in the pot, increasing his stack to 98,000.

Teltscher Me It Ain't So

Mark Teltscher and his very distinctive, oft-used voice have exited the casino after suffering a major disaster which he could neither recover from nor talk his way out of.

Most of his chips went in a confrontation with Juan Manuel Pastor on the cutoff, who found {A-Spades} {K-Diamonds}. Teltscher found {J-Clubs} {J-Hearts} on the button, and following a short raising war they were on their backs.

Board: {5-Hearts} {4-Hearts} {K-Clubs} {8-Diamonds} {5-Spades}

While Pastor herded in a flock of 100,000 chips, Teltscher was down to a mere 12,500.

Julien Lang Van open-shoved the next hand and Teltscher demanded a count even though Lang Van clearly covered him. Eventually he called, and it was a clinical affair.

Lang Van: {A-Hearts} {K-Spades}
Teltscher: {A-Spades} {Q-Diamonds}

Teltscher: "Oh f***."

Board: {10-Diamonds} {2-Clubs} {8-Clubs} {6-Spades} {3-Spades}

And he's out.
