Mattern Felts Toth

Csaba Toth raised from the cutoff, and Arnaud Mattern promptly moved all in. A prompt call, and they were on their backs.

Mattern: {A-Spades} {10-Spades}
Toth: {9-Hearts} {9-Diamonds}

Board: {Q-Hearts} {J-Diamonds} {K-Hearts} {Q-Spades} {A-Clubs}

With a quiet "Phew," Mattern doubled up to just over 60,000, while Toth is left with just 2,000 in chips and, barring miracles, few prospects in this tournament...

Antony Lellouche Eliminated

Not his day
Not his day
Andrea Benelli opened for 4,800 and Antony Lellouche moved all in for an additional 18,600 from the small blind. As Benelli tanked, Lellouche offered him a bit of advice.

"I can't win a showdown so you should call. I've won zero today!" he said with a smile.

Benelli made the call and turned over {A-Diamonds} {8-Spades} to Lellouche's {4-Clubs} {5-Clubs}.

Lellouche flopped good when it came down {6-Diamonds} {4-Spades} {2-Hearts} , pairing his four. The turn was a safe {9-Clubs} , but disaster struck on the river when the {8-Diamonds} fell, making Benelli the higher pair.

Resigned to his fate, Lellouche wished his tablemates luck and made a gracious exit as the flashbulbs of a dozen media vultures went off.

Rotach Doubles Through Minieri

Stefan Rotach raised from the hijack and Joao Barbosa and Dario Minieri both called in the small and big blinds respectively.

The flop came down {J-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} {K-Hearts} and it checked around to Rotach, who bet 9,500; Barbosa passed but Minieri announced, "All in," thoroughly covering Rotach. Rotach called instantly, and his top two pair turned into a full house on the turn, rendering Minieri's rivered straight immaterial.

Rotach: {K-Diamonds} {J-Clubs}
Minieri: {Q-Hearts} {10-Spades}

Board: {J-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} {K-Hearts} {J-Spades} {9-Clubs}

Rotach is up to 90,000, while Minieri, who had been up to 150,000, drops back down to around the 100,000 mark.

Dario at it Again

With the action folded around to Joao Barbosa in the small blind, he made it 5,500 to go. Dario Minieri, in the big blind, peeked down at his cards and reraised to 16,000. Barbosa quickly folded.

To rub salt into the wound, Minieri tabled {4-Clubs} {6-Spades} and Barbosa looked positively nauseous.
