Double Knockout!

Eric Vanderburg
Eric Vanderburg
After an early-position player limps, Eric Vanderburg moves all in for 1,700. There is one caller, then Soren Jensen, runner-up in Copenhagen, calls for his last 925 in chips. The original limper also calls and a flop is dealt {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{2-Hearts}.

The first caller bets out 1,000 after the early limper checks; it is enough and the cards are now on their backs:

Eric Vanderburg: {K-Clubs}{9-Clubs}
Soren Jensen: {Q-Hearts}{10-Clubs}
Unknown: {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades}

The turn and river are dealt {Q-Spades}{9-Spades} and we lose two players in one hand.

Sorel Mizzi Eliminated

Sorel Mizzi
Sorel Mizzi
Canadian pro and Team Betfair's latest edition, Sorel Mizzi, has just been eliminated from the tournament after back-to-back hands left him crippled and then out.

In the first hand, Sorel opened with a 950 raise from mid-position. Action then folded around to Melek Ertas in the big blind, who then made it 4,000 to go. Mizzi tanked for a bit before subtly sliding a stack of blue and red chips across the betting line, softly announcing, "All in." Ertas made the call and was all in for approximately 11,100. At the showdown, Melek tabled a pocket pair of kings; Sorel showed {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts}. The board ran out {7-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{J-Hearts} and Ertas' kings held up, leaving Sorel with less than 2,000 in chips.

On the very next hand, Sorel opened with another pre-flop raise, this time making it 900 to go, leaving himself a single stack of green chips (approx. 600 worth) behind. An unknown player to his immediate left then made it an even 2,000 and action folded around the table to Sorel, who made the call holding {A-Clubs}{3-Hearts}; his opponent produced pocket fives. A king-high board sealed the Canadian's fate and he calmly exited the tournament area.

Action For Wahlroos

Thomas Wahlroos
Thomas Wahlroos
Thomas Wahlroos has been in the thick of during it the last few hands. First, he got all in pre-flop with jacks against A-K. The door card was a king but it revealed a jack to double up Thomas to 15,000.

A couple of hands later, he was in the big blind and called a raise of 900 from the small blind.

The flop came down {3-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} and Thomas called a 1,300 bet. The turn and river were the {2-Clubs}{7-Hearts} and both were checked. Thomas let out a, "Wow" when his opponent turned over {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}, which was way ahead of his {8-Clubs}{8-Spades}.

Mika Puro Gets Out of Jail

Mika Puro pushed his last 2,375 chips into the middle and got one caller. His {8-Clubs}{8-Spades} was not looking good against the {J-Hearts}{J-Spades} of his opponent, but a board of {2-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{7-Hearts} was just what he needed and he has doubled up.

Thomas Wahlroos Returns Favor

Thomas Wahlroos just doubled up the player who doubled him up a short while ago. All in pre-flop, Wahlroos had pocket tens against pocket jacks and no surprises on the board. Thomas still had 17,500 left after the hand.
