The Hand That Launched 1,000 Men

We discovered, by the by, that Rui Milhomens' enormous stack came largely from an aces-v-kings encounter against an unfortunate player. Ouch.

Nevertheless Milhomens has dropped a few of those just now after running his {A-?} {J-?} into a player holding {A-?} {Q-?}, and he's down to a still very hefty 330,000.

Mayrinck's Mother Will Be Pleased

Maridu Mayrinck called us over to witness her double up, all in preflop with {A-Clubs} {K-Spades} against {A-Spades} {J-Spades}.

Board: {9-Clubs} {Q-Clubs} {10-Spades} {4-Hearts} {3-Clubs}

"Oh my God, did you see that flop?" she said relieved that her hand held up and she's now on a much more comfortable 120,000 or so. "My mother's going to be hysterical," she went on. "Every tournament I make the money she flies out, and she's dying to come to London."

Out Of Dwyer Straits

John Dwyer has managed to double through Manuel Bevand. The Irishman got it all in preflop with {A-Spades} {A-Clubs} against the Frenchman's {7-Spades} {7-Hearts} and the pro-Irish board came {6-Clubs} {2-Clubs} {2-Spades} {8-Spades} {K-Spades} for the pot.

Dwyer is up to about 65,000.

Kravchenko On the Up

The Silent Russian, Alex Kravchenko, has boosted his stack a little to 90,000 after raising in mid position and getting a tentative call from the young gentleman in the small blind, who eyed him up suspiciously.

The young gent checked the {K-Spades} {A-Diamonds} {3-Hearts} flop, though, and then folded to another 6,000 from Kravchenko.

Cheer up, it Mayrinck never happen
Cheer up, it Mayrinck never happen
Maridu Mayrinck has 57,600 in chips and is very unhappy.

"Everything that could go wrong, has," she lamented. "I lost queens to eights, I lost tens. No, I don't need a rack," she told the floor man who was breaking her table. "Thank god, table break. This table's been brutal to me."

As she wandered off to her new table we could hear her continuing her lament to someone else. Hope her day improves.
