Demi-almost-done

A raise from Josef Samanek saw a push behind him with a call from Ivan Demidov. Samanek moved in too and the Russian sighed, "I guess I'm behind..." but then added "Oh, wow, I'm not..." when he saw Samanek's {A-Diamonds} {K-Spades}. Demidov turned over {J-Diamonds} {J-Hearts} and the short stack flipped {3-Clubs} {3-Diamonds}.

The board came {10-Clubs} {7-Clubs} {A-Hearts} ("That's not good..." said Demidov) {4-Clubs} {10-Hearts}.

The Russian was left with just 7,000 remaining while the short stack was eliminated.

Samanek is up to about 120,000 as a result.

Eugene Katches an Ace

We arrived at the table just in time to see Eugene Katchalov getting his whole stack in preflop and yawning.

Mr. Opponent: {Q-Spades} {Q-Hearts}
Katchalov: rather behind with {A-Spades} {10-Hearts}

Nevertheless, board: {10-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} {4-Hearts} {9-Spades} {A-Clubs}

Katchalov stays in and doubles to around 60,000.

Devilfish Having Fun

Devilfish managed to move all in preflop and leave his opponent with a decision.

"I've got the best hand," the 'Fish told him, "Otherwise your money'd already be in there. Just try to do something before the blinds go up to 4,000/8,000."

His opponent still dwelled.

"Do you have a pair?" asked Devilfish. Yes, was the answer. "Oh. Then don't call. I'll do an impression while we're waiting," he continued, slanting his sunglasses at a crazy angle across his face, "Come on, who's this?" Everyone just sort of giggled nervously. "It's Van Gogh at the beach."

Eventually Devilfish's opponent folded pocket jacks face up. A relieved Devilfish showed him pocket tens. "I'm glad you folded," he continued, "Now I might win the tournament."

Greco Gets Lucky Break

Michael Greco has hit a huge double up, getting it all-in against Andrew Chen with {K-Diamonds} {Q-Spades} but hitting versus {A-Diamonds} {K-Spades} when the board came {3-Clubs} {Q-Clubs} {10-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds} {5-Clubs}.

Jesper Hougaard offered that time-honoured phrase as the former Eastenders actor scooped the chips, "Must be nice..."

Timoshenko Doubles

Yevgeniy Timoshenko has doubled up to almost 100,000 after getting all-in with {A-?} {A-?} and getting called by {A-Hearts} {K-Hearts}. A complete lack of hearts, Kings and boards resembling Q-J-T meant the WPT and WCOOP winner stays in the tournament.

Lisandro Throwing His Weight around

Jeff Lisandro has been taking full advantage of his gigantic stack and applying pressure wherever he thinks there's weakness to be exploited. For example, he checked a {2-Hearts} {K-Spades} {7-Clubs} flop and then, when his opponent bet 6,500, calmly raised to 15,500. Back to Mr. Opponent, who gave it some thought -- before reraising, leaving himself mere shrapnel behind. Lisandro folded instantly.
