Ruling Saves Teng from Set Over Set Over Set Disaster

With the board reading {J-Diamonds} {6-Hearts} {9-Clubs} {7-Clubs}, a three-way raising war erupted. We caught up with the action as the gentleman in the cutoff moved all in for 21,500 and the action moved over to Andrew Teng in early position, who disappeared into the tank. Eventually the clock was called, and it had timed right down when Teng called all in on zero - only to be told that his hand was dead, as his count only went down to one. Yikes.

But as it turned out, it was a lucky escape. One Andre Ipaira in the hijack called, and flipped over {J-Clubs} {J-Hearts} for a flopped top set. Mr. Cutoff could only boast {6-Clubs} {6-Diamonds} for a flopped bottom set. Teng announced to the table that he'd had pocket nines for flopped middle set.

The river was the {8-Clubs} and Mr. Cutoff was busto; Ipaira meanwhile found himself possessor of around 70,000 in chips. Teng, suddenly very glad he timed out, is left with 22,500.

Deeb Done

Word on the street is that Shaun Deeb has just been eliminated. We're going in search of details with a report forthcoming.

Bichon Goes On

Thomas Bichon seems to have had a rather bad start, but is back up to 21,000 now after a curious hand.

With the board reading {8-Clubs} {8-Diamonds} {6-Hearts} {5-Spades}, the gentleman in the big blind position bet out 4,000. Bichon called, leaving himself just 7,000 behind.

Come the {8-Spades} river, Mr. Big Blind checked, and after a moment's consideration, Bichon moved all in. Mr. Big Blind made a face, and folded.

Mattern Moving Up

Arnaud Mattern
Arnaud Mattern
Arnaud Mattern is steaming ahead in the right direction. We just caught the tail end of his latest pot, and he was once again on the receiving end of the chip push.

On a board showing {5-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds} {4-Spades} {J-Clubs} {4-Clubs}, Mattern fired one last bet on the river. The amount wasn't clear, but it put more than 30,000 chips in the pot and left Mattern with about 11,500 in front of him. His opponent called after some time, and Arnaud tabled {Q-Spades} {Q-Clubs} for the boat. After stacking up some more chips, Mattern is challenging for the lead with 55,000 here in the early going.

Tables of Death and Agony

At least two tables have already broken today, but both of them started very short-handed. Early on, a couple of interesting matchups are developing.

On what we'll call the Table of Immediate Death, we see that Joep van den Bijgaart, Julien Thew, and JP Kelly have been joined by Shaun Deeb to create a fearsome foursome of poker aggression.

And on the far side of the room, we have the Table of Prolonged Agony with EPT Season 5 Grand Champion Pieter de Korver, Michael Keiner, Stuart Rutter, and Jan Skampa.

There aren't a huge allotment of pros in the field today, but those that are here are set up for some captivating action.

Internet Woes

We're having some internet troubles here in the media room, so bear with us, folks. The man in the black hat is running around furiously trying to get all the wires sorted as we speak. We're cautiously optimistic that it will be remedied in the near future.

Aces Vs. Aces

Excitement as we heard the phrase, "All in," closely followed by, "I call," but disappointment as both parties turned over pocket aces. There were two hearts on the flop, but no third one followed on the turn and they chopped it up.
