Day: 4
Juha Lauttamus Eliminated in 10th Place (€42,600)
Showdown
Roux:
Lauttamus:
The players were flipping a coin for more than two million chips with Lauttamus at risk. And the flop would be an ugly sight indeed. It rolled out to pull Roux into the lead with his pair of kings. A crowd of spectators pressed in around the table, bantering back and forth at machine-gun pace in a myriad of languages. Tournament Director Thomas Kremser was calling the action on the microphone.
He tapped the dealer on the shoulder, she burned a card, and Kremser said, "Juha will now need to catch a jack in order to stay alive..."
Turn:
The crowd all fell one step backwards in shock as Lauttamus had come back to snag a commanding lead in the hand with his full boat. When the commotion settled just a bit, Kremser tapped the dealer agan and called the river:
"Juha doesn't want to see a king..."
River: !
Another huge eruption came from the crowd as Roux had re-re-sucked out to make kings full of threes and claim Lauttamus as his victim. Oohs and Aahs lingered around the room for a few seconds as half of the spectators stood with their mouths wide open in disbelief.
It wasn't for lack of trying, but Juha Lauttamus was unable to stay alive on his final hand. He's been eliminated in 10th place, earning himself a pay bump up over €40,000. In other news, Thomas Kremser is clearly some sort of divinely-appointed oracle.
Double or Nothing for Lauttamus
The dealer ran out a dangerous but ultimately clean board of . The jacks hold, doubling Lauttamus up over the million-chip mark.
Pagano Picking on His Table
The filled out the board, and Pagano slid out 120,000 chips. After some stares and some fruitless question asking from the Brit, he surrendered his cards.
Biggest Pot Of The Day Alert
Jan Skampa raised to 72,000 under the gun and Stefan Mattsson called from the button. All good. In the small blind, though, Anthony Roux reraised to 220,000. Skampa flatted. So did Mattsson. Interesting.
All three players checked the flop, and they moved to the turn. Roux checked again, but Skampa now bet a rather chunky 470,000. Curiously, Mattsson flat-called. Roux folded. Onwards.
The river was the and now Skampa bet out 900,000. Mattsson disappeared into the tank as approximately a million people appeared from nowhere to crane over the table.
Eventually he folded, and Skampa is now in contention for the lead on around 2.7 million.
Kalle Niemi Eliminated in 11th Place (€31,400)
Ryan:
Niemi:
Board:
An absolute rollercoaster, that board, but Ryan ended up on top and Niemi will not be making a second EPT final table appearance this time around.
George Secara Eliminated in 12th Place (€31,400)
Secara:
Skampa:
Board: (the whole rail made a noise like a plumber deciding how much to charge you for fixing your toilet)
We are 11.
Yann Brosolo Eliminated in 13th Place (€24,500)
Showdown
Brosolo:
Mattsson:
Brosolo clapped his hands together at the sight of his fine spot, poised to double up. It was eerily similar to the hand just moments ago at this table just a few minutes ago, but the result would not be the same for ace-king this time. The flop was a disastrous , vaulting Mattsson into the lead and leaving Brosolo at risk and needing to improve to stay afloat. The turn did nothing to support that cause, though, and the that filled out the board was a blank as well.
With his dominant hand falling, Day 2 chip leader Yann Brosolo has been knocked off in 13th Place.
Evgeniy Zaytsev Eliminated in 14th Place (€24,500)
Showdown
Roux:
Zaytsev:
It was a bad situation for Zaytsev, and it wouldn't get any better either. The dealer ran out an unfriendly board of . The king on the turn ended the hand right there, sealing Zaytsev's fate as the 14th-place finisher. That's good for €24,500 as a consolation prize.
