Gurtovoy Finds His Ace

Oleksandr Vaserfirer opened to 31,000 from early position, and big blind Anatoly Gurtovoy put in the call to see a flop.

It came {8-Diamonds} {K-Clubs} {8-Clubs}. With his opponent checking, Vaserfirer made a small bet of 20,000 which was quickly called. The turn was the {A-Spades}, and both men checked. The {Q-Diamonds} on the river drew a leading bet of 50,000 from Gurtovoy, and Vaserfirer pursed his lips and splashed in the call as if he already knew he had been outdrawn.

Sure enough, Gurtovoy flipped over {A-Hearts} {10-Spades}, and a slightly frustrated Vaserfirer flashed his {K-?} {J-?} before flinging them back to the dealer.
