Big Stacks Battle

Kfir Yamin bet 15,500 on the flop of {Q-Spades}{6-Spades}{4-Hearts}. Marc Inizan made the call. The turn added the {K-Hearts} to the board. Yamin fired another bet, making it 40,000 to go this time. Inizan raised it up to 112,000. Yamin made the call.

The river completed the board with the {Q-Clubs} and Yamin checked. Inizan fired 250,000 into the pot. Yamin folded in disgust, looking away as he angrily pushed his hand into the muck.

Inizan moved up to 900,000 while Yamin dropped back to 425,000.

Bubble Staaaaalllliiiinnnngggg

Action has slowed down considerably as the field approaches the money bubble. That's not to say that there aren't big pots and crazy bluffs. They just happen very, very slowly. One table in particular has perfected the art of the bubble stall. Tu Tuan To began Day 2 second in chips with 212,000. Now he's down to less than 10 big blinds and in danger of not cashing.

In a recent hand, a player from middle position raised to 9,000. It folded to To in the small blind, where he sat comfortably for four minutes contemplating his decision. Finally, he called the clock on himself and unsurprisingly, declined to put another chip into the pot. Six minutes into the hand, the big blind decided to look at his own cards. He peeled one, thought about it, and moved it to the side. Then he peaked at the other one, thought about it, and asked for a count of the bet (one T5,000 chip and four T1,000 chips - not rocket science). Oddly, he actually called, only to check the flop and then tank-fold to a bet. The hand took over 10 minutes and lasted long enough for people at three other tables to bust. Mission accomplished, we guess. There's now a floor person standing over their table to speed the action along a little.

Thank F*** It's Freitag

The flop read {3-Spades} {4-Diamonds} {A-Diamonds}.

"All in," said Lorenz Freitag.

"Call," said his opponent.

"F***," said Freitag.

Freitag: {A-Clubs} {K-Hearts} for top pair, top kicker
His opponent: {A-Spades} {4-Spades} for two pair

Turn: {10-Spades}

River: {10-Clubs}

The pair of tens on the board counterfeited Freitag's opponent's two pair, and Freitag's king kicker played to give him the pot and double him up to 220,000. Freitag was overjoyed, at very high volume.

We do not know exactly what he was shouting in German, but we managed to pick out the phrase, "En der f***ing bubble scheisse call!" Charming.

Inizan Eliminates Paredes

David Paredes eliminated
David Paredes eliminated
Marc Inizan raised from middle position to 10,700 and then action folded to David Paredes in the small blind. He reraised to 28,000 straight. The big blind folded and action fell back on Inizan. He announced that he was all in and Paredes made the call.

Inizan: {K-Spades}{J-Spades}
Paredes: {A-Hearts}{J-Hearts}

The flop added some outs for Inizan when it came down {Q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}. The turn was the {9-Spades} and completed the straight for Inizan. The river completed the board with the {8-Hearts} and also ended the tournament for Paredes, which finished just a few spots off the money. Inizan moved up to 725,000.

Paredes Rebuilding

After losing a 300,000-chip pot shortly before dinner, Paredes has refused to give up. He raised preflop, Marc Inizan called on the button, and Johannes Strassmann came along in the big blind.

Flop: {J-Clubs} {2-Clubs} {2-Hearts} - Strassmann checked, Paredes bet 18,000, and Inizan tank-called. Strassmann asked for a count of David's stack before giving up his hand.

Turn: {A-Spades} - Paredes bet 45,000, clearly committing himself to the pot with less than 50,000 behind. Inizan quickly mucked. He's still got a giant 585,000, and Paredes is up to 148,000 from a low of less than 60,000.

Fitoussi Learns a Lesson

Old school players should have learned by now that they can't out-aggress the Internet generation. But every once in a while, they need to be reminded. Bruno Fitoussi and Chris "cdbr3799" Dombrowski got into it on a {K-Diamonds} {5-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} flop. Fitoussi checked, and Dombrowksi bet 8,500. Then Bruno check-raised to 22,000. Chris almost whispered, "all in." And Fitoussi's cards were in the muck in under a second. "Looks like I didn't find the right spot, huh?" he laughed. Fitoussi is on 110,000 while Dombrowksi has 225,000.

Danzer Puummeled

Miika Puumalainen checked the {Q-Diamonds} {3-Hearts} {2-Clubs} flop to George Danzer, who bet 25,000. Puumalainen made the call. Exact same sequence on the {3-Diamonds} turn. Check, bet 25,000, call. Puumalainen checked a third time after the {5-Hearts} on the river. Danzer finally gave up and checked behind, showing {A-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} for a missed gutshot and a rivered pair of fives. Puumalainen took down the pot with {Q-Spades} {J-Spades} for top pair, putting him up to 186,000. Danzer still has around 300,000.

Feldman Century

There was a raise to 9,000 in the hijack, but Andrew Feldman in the cutoff pushed his entire 86,900 stack across the line. The cutoff thought about it long and hard but eventually folded, and Feldman is back above the 100,000 mark for we believe the first time since play started this morning.

Jaspers At It

It looked like there was at least one raise preflop (although the 400 ante makes every pot look huge so it's hard to tell) but either way Joris Jaspers (hijack) and Manuel Bevand (cutoff) saw an {8-Diamonds} {4-Spades} {K-Spades} flop. Jaspers bet out 11,600, Bevand called, and they saw a turn.

The turn was the {3-Hearts} and this time Jaspers bet out 28,000. Again, Bevand called.

They saw a {9-Diamonds} river and this time Jaspers checked. Bevand checked behind and flipped over {K-?} {Q-?} - easily good enough to beat Jaspers' nothing-until-the-river {A-?} {9-?}.

"Would you have called?" asked Jaspers, referring to a hypothetical all-in bet on the river. "Probably," replied Bevand.

Bevand - almost 200,000
Jaspers - 80,000
