In the Money

Just as the tournament staff had the numbers counted down to 145 players and were announcing that all tables would now be going hand for hand, a player was eliminated and 144 remained. After the clock was paused so the staff could do an exact count of the players left in the field, it was verified that they were in the money.

Reinkemeier Wrecking His Chances

Short
Short
Tobias Reinkemeier opened for 12,500 but to his immediate left Tommi Etelapera made it 60,000 with just 50,000 behind. It folded back to Reinkemeier, who thought about it.

"I'm not that strong," he said. But he didn't act, and thought about it some more instead. Eventually he decided. "I don't think I can fold," he announced, and raised to cover Etelapera, who naturally called all in.

Etelapera: {K-Spades} {K-Hearts}
Reinkemeier: {J-Spades} {J-Diamonds}

Board: {Q-Hearts} {A-Diamonds} {7-Hearts} {7-Spades} {3-Clubs}

Etelapera doubled to around 230,000. Reinkemeier turned purple and looked like he might actually have thrown up a little bit in his mouth. He's down to 85,000, three places away from the money.

The Little Buddah Saga Continues

Tu Tuan To has continued to tank-fold most of his hands on the bubble. He finally moved all in for not-quite 50k and got out of his seat, imploring the table not to make any hero calls. Everyone folded, and To showed pocket kings.

A few hands later, he pulled the exact same act. This time, Vlad Zguba called from the button to put To at risk of pre-bubble elimination.

Showdown
To: {A-Diamonds} {6-Spades}
Zguba: {A-Hearts} {K-Spades}

The flop came {5-Diamonds} {4-Hearts} {3-Hearts}, giving To another whole world of outs. And the {7-Diamonds} on the turn sealed his double up. He let out a yelp, followed by a chant of "Little buddah! Little buddah!" Zguba looked like he wanted to bite him.

Thew's the King of the Castle

Mmm, chips
Mmm, chips
With the flop reading {3-Diamonds} {7-Hearts} {4-Hearts} and over 60,000 in the pot, one gentleman bet 44,500. Julian Thew, however, made it around 160,000 to go - an amount that more or less covered the bettor - and then proceeded to gaze innocently around the room.

The bettor apparently dozed off briefly (his chin was down and his eyes closed) but then perked up a bit, dwelling and repeatedly checking the board to see if they were in the money yet. Eventually he folded.

EPT Baden champion and newly-signed Team PokerStars Pro Thew is up to 350,000.

Level Seven, I'm in Heaven

Ladies and gents, last level of the day.

There is a possibility that play will end when the bubble bursts, although the official plan is to play until the end of this level. We'll keep you updated as to what the TDs decide.

Feldman Doubles Up

Michael Huber seemed to have raised from the button and Andrew Feldman appeared to have pushed from the small blind; either way we arrived to hear Huber announce call and see the cards turned over.

Feldman: {A-Diamonds} {K-Diamonds}
Huber: {A-Clubs} {4-Clubs}

Board: a four-free, club-free {2-Hearts} {8-Spades} {J-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} {8-Hearts}

Feldman, with his customary, "Yesssss," doubled to around 180,000. Huber was left with 95,000.
