Poelhuis Takes the Plunge

Rui Cao, formerly on a rather nice stack, has taken a very considerable hit.

He raised from the button and Khier Rezaik in the small blind called - but then his phone rang, and since he answered it, his hand was declared dead and mucked. Hope it was important.

Anyway, the action moved over to Joost Poelhuis in the big blind, who made it 6,000. Back to Cao, who tanked up for some time. "You have ace-king?" he ventured. Eventually the clock was called, and after another moment's dwelling, Cao re-reraised enough to cover Poelhuis, who amde a face and thought about it briefly before calling all in. Not looking good for the Dutch qualifier...

Poelhuis: {A-Spades} {10-Hearts}
Cao: {A-Clubs} {J-Spades}

But wait!

Flop: {8-Spades} {6-Diamonds} {K-Spades}

Turn: {7-Hearts}

River: ... {10-Spades}

Poelhuis enjoys a full double up to perhaps 40,000, while Cao is back down to averagey 47,000.

Sekh Sneaks One By

We caught Martin Kabrhel contemplating a flop raise from his neighbor to the left, Mohamed Sekh. On a {10-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} {2-Spades} flop, Sekh added 3,350 to Kabrhel's bet, and Martin called.

Turn: {9-Hearts}

Both players checked to see the free river: {9-Spades}

Kabrhel aggressively eyed Sekh's stack before counting out a bet of 6,625. Sekh gave Kabrhel what he appeared to want, sliding all of his chips into the middle. But Kabrhel quickly mucked.

"Good fold," snapped Sekh, tossing two useless {7-?}s toward the dealer.

Rintala Railbound

The news isn't good for Mr. Rintala; he's outta here
The news isn't good for Mr. Rintala; he's outta here
We joined the action on the turn in a heads-up pot as the dealer put the {10-Diamonds} down on a board showing {Q-Diamonds} {J-Spades} {6-Diamonds}. Gilles Mammou was first to speak, and he led out with a bet of 2,500. Voitto Rintala was his only foe, and the long-haired rocker sat in the tank for a few long minutes before moving all in for 13,000 straight. After some tank time of his own, Mammou made the call with the covering stack. Neither man wanted to show first, and the dealer had to coax a showdown from the two men. This is not a cash game, fellas; cards on their backs:

Mammou: {Q-Hearts} {7-Hearts}
Rintala: {A-Hearts} {J-Diamonds}

It was Rintala at risk, and he was trailing the top pair of Mammou. The river was the {Q-Clubs} just to rub it in, and Rintala has made his exit.

Kabrhel Can Bet, But He Can't Call

Martin Kabrhel is involved in nearly every pot, so it's time for a status check.

Walking over to his table, we see him at it again, open-raising to 1,550 from the button. Both blinds (Mohamed Sekh and Florent Marques) came along with him, and the flop brought {10-Hearts} {Q-Hearts} {8-Spades}. When the blinds checked it over, Kabrhel continued out with a bet of 3,275. This time Sekh was the only caller, and the two live players watched fourth street bring the {Q-Spades}. Sekh took control now, making a leading bet of 4,200. Kabrhel went into the tank for a few minutes, long enough for another player at the table to call time. Just a few seconds into his final minute of thought, though, Kabrhel kicked it in.

He's been losing his fair share of pots of late, but Kabrhel is still quite healthy with about 77,000 in chips.

Rintala Approaching Trouble

EPT fixture and Christian heavy metaller Voitto Rintala, down to perhaps 18,000, raised to 1,600 in early position. To his immediate left, however, Jamel Maistriaux made it 3,750 to go. Folds all around the table back to Rintala who folded too. Rintala will be in some trouble soon if this continues...

Score One for Saout

After a tablemate raised to 1,750 under the gun, Antoine Saout squeezed his cards and liked what he saw, making it 4,125 to go. Action folded back to the original raiser, Patrick Masliah, who announced "all in." Saout called before the words had even left his fellow Frenchman's mouth and instantly flipped over his hand: {A-Hearts} {A-Clubs}. Masliah's {A-Spades} {K-Hearts} was in trouble, and the board wasn't a whole lot of help.

Board: {Q-Spades} {4-Clubs} {3-Spades} {4-Diamonds} {8-Clubs}

Masliah got up to leave, but he seemed to be the only one at the table to think that Saout had him covered. When the stacks were counted down, Masliah was left with more than 15,000. Saout doubled to 38,000, putting him above starting stack for the first time since the second hour of play.

Qu-ing Up

Andrei Vlasenko limped in, but Thomas Neville made it 2,100 to go. Over to Eric Qu on the cutoff - who made it 5,100. Vlasenko decided he was behind and passed, but Neville made the call and they proceeded to the flop.

Flop: {9-Hearts} {2-Clubs} {4-Clubs}

Neville checked to Qu, who bet 5,000. Neville peered over to see how many chips Qu had left - but eventually thought better of it and passed.
