Not long ago we reported a hand where Roberto Romanello got his money in with a pair of queens against ace-king and lost. Well history has just repeated itself but this time Joseph El Khoury was the man to benefit from the Welshman's misfortune.
El Khoury raised to 6,000 from early position and Romanello, next to act, re-raised to 15,000. The action folded back to El Khoury who quickly moved all in for what turned out to be 61,900. Romanello quickly called and it was off to the races;
Romanello:
El Khoury:
The first card out on the flop was the giving El Khoury a huge advantage and he stayed ahead as the other four community cards fell to put him on 158,000 and drop Romanello to 230,000
Ruslan Prydryk suffered from some poor timing as he made a stab at a big pot vs. Rasmus Nielsen, betting over 30,000 on the river. The board was -rag-rag-rag- and large-stacked Nielsen immediately called with for top two pair. Prydryk flipped up for no pair and had to face his halved stack (50k-ish) while Nielsen keeps rising - over 290,000 and counting.
The usually talkative Roberto Romanello was unusually quiet as he doubled up Michael Anthony Moretto just moments ago.
Romanello raised from under the gun to 4,600, Moretto seated two seats to his left raised to 13,500 and when the action folded back to Romanello he requested a count. He was informed that Moretto only had 28,000 more, so Romanello put a fistful of yellow 5,000 chips into the middle and he was called.
Romanello:
Moretto:
The Welsman's queens stayed ahead on a flop but fell way behind when the peeled off on the turn. The on the river gave Moretto an unnecessary two pair and he doubled to around 80,000, whilst Romanello has in the region of 290,000
Jonathan Weekes (under the gun) bet out 7,200 on a flop; Matt Affleck (hijack) made the call. Weekes bet out another 12,000 on the turn and Affleck, after a brief pause, called that too.
The river was the and this time Weekes checked. Affleck checked behind, and looked a little surprised when Weekes turned over . Affleck mucked, and they're at roughly 170,000 apiece after that, though moving in opposite directions.
Florian Desgouttes has doubled up to 58,000 to the delight of a small but supportive group of players (or railers or fans) who watched him move all in preflop over a standard Toby Lewis raise. It was small blind Liviu Ignat, however, who spent the longest thinking about this preflop 27,300, finally choosing to move in over the top. Lewis passed immediately and they were on their backs:
Desgouttes:
Ignat:
Already confident, Desgouttes was delighted when the board came out and gave him the pot. Ignat, meanwhile, drops to 71,500.
