Ion Pavel opened and Jean Sami Souleiman shoved from the big blind. He was behind all the way, and was soon heading for the payout desk to collect his winnings. Pavel is up to around 1.1 million now.
Sergio Rodriguez Sanchez, Roberto Nulli and Nikolay Losev have all moved in preflop in the last ten minutes, prompting a lot of thinking but absolutely no calling from their opponents. Emilliano Bono raised to 56k on the button, but folded when Sanchez moved in for 220k. Losev opted for the straight under the gun shove. Nulli moved in from the big blind after warning Souleiman (small blind) that that might happen. Despite their both being short stacks (under 300k) Souleiman folded.
Peter Skripka and Marco Leonzio have just clashed over on Table 1, with the former coming away with the spoils.
On a flop reading Leonzio checked in the cutoff, Skripka made it 100,000 to play, Leonzio reraised to 300,000 and two minutes later Skripka put in a further raise, making it just over 600,000 to play.
Despite the huge odds being offered by the pot, Leonzio mucked his hand.
Salvatore Bonavena raised to 64,000 under the gun and picked up two callers in the shape of Denis Kipnis a couple seats down and breaktime chip leader Peter Skripka in the big blind. They saw a flop.
Flop:
Skripka checked to Sal Bon, who bet 96,000. Kipnis called, Skripka gave it up, and they were heads up to the turn.
Turn:
Both players checked this time, and they saw the river for free.
River:
Sal Bon now bet out 100,000 and after a few moments Kipnis made what looked like a reluctant call - and indeed Kipnis was soon mucking as Sal Bon flipped pocket for the devil's own hand, a set of sixes.
Sal Bon is at around 1.3 million after that, Kipnis at 1.35 million.
Ion Pavel opened to 56,000 in the cutoff but Richard Toth on the button decided to make it 110,000 to go. The blinds folded but Pavel made an uncharacteristically quick call - within a minute or so.
Both players checked the flop and turn. Pavel checked the river as well but this time Toth bet 110,000. Pavel called again with remarkable alacrity (perhaps we misjudged his tanking capabilities earlier) and Toth just mucked before Pavel had even shown his pocket .
Toth dropped to around a million in chips; Pavel increased to 1.2 million.
Roberto Nulli has had a turbulent start to the level, finding his short stack boosted then halved in quick succession. He saw a heads-up flop with Ion Pavel of and bet 35k. He was called, and the turn brought the . Immediately Nulli moved in for around 200,000. He sat quietly for half a minute while Pavel considered, before suddenly announcing, "Jack! I have Jacks! Six-Jack. And you?"
This sped up the Pavel decision, as he said, "Fold," (but failed to release his cards until prompted twice by the dealer).
"I show," said Nulli- he turned up .
Shortly thereafter he doubled up Jean Sami Souleiman who'd moved in preflop for 62k. Nulli flat called his move with , ahead of Souleiman's only until the came to save his tournament life.
Rob Hollink has just doubled up after his pocket sixes held up in a preflop all in confrontation with Frenchman Manuel Bevand.
Everyone folded around to Bevand, who was seated in the hijack, and he made it 52,000 to play. Melanie Weisner folded in the cutoff and Nikolay Losev followed suit on the button. However, Hollink was not in folding mood and moved all in for 360,000 from the small blind.
Almost three minutes passed, during which time Haykel Cherif Vidal busted out, before Bevand made the call.
Bevand:
Hollink:
Flop: - Hollink's sixes are still the best hand
Turn: - Another over card but not an ace or nine so Hollink stays in front
River: - Bingo for Hollink and he more than doubles to 800,000
Haykel Cherif Vidal has busted out in a blind versus blind battle with Marco Leonzio.
The action folded to Vidal in the small blind and he quickly moved all in for just 125,000 chips. Leonzio called very quickly but would need some help otherwise he would double up Vidal.
Vidal:
Leonzio:
He received the help he needed on a flop and stayed ahead as the turn and river came and respectively. We are now down to 18 players, ten more to go until the final table is set.
