Carson Cruising

Russell "rdcrsn" Carson held {A-Clubs}{A-Spades} in the cutoff and fortunately for him, Dan Murariu decided to play back at him with {K-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} from the small blind.

Murariu five-bet all in and Carson snap-called all in for 137,100. The board ran out {K-Clubs}{10-Spades}{7-Clubs}{8-Spades}{9-Spades} and Carson is up to about 280,000.

Zaichenko Left Out in the Cold

Andrey Zaichenko opened the pot by shoving all in for 40,300 from early position. A few seats over, Sebastien Bidinger re-shoved all in for just a few thousand more. That folded the rest of the table (though Luis Medina thought about it) and put Zaichenko heads up for his tournament life.

Showdown
Zaichenko: {A-Hearts} {K-Spades}
Bidinger: {Q-Spades} {Q-Diamonds}

Aaaaaand they're off! Bidinger's horse held its early lead as the flop came out {6-Diamonds} {6-Spades} {8-Hearts}. The {9-Hearts} kept him in the lead as they rounded the final corner, and the {Q-Clubs} at the line locked up the knockout and the near-double-up for Bidinger.

That's the end of Zaichenko's day, though we might see him again when he realizes he's left without his jacket.

Pagano Gone

Casper Toft raised from the cutoff and Luca Pagano called out of the big blind. All good.

They saw a {5-Hearts} {K-Spades} {10-Hearts} flop and Pagano checked. Toft asked how much Pagano had left - it was 54,300, although according to Pagano it was around 52,000 - before betting 6,200. Pagano promptly moved all in.

Toft dwelled up for a very long time, long enough for the clock to be called. When his minute was more than half up, he called.

Pagano: {K-Diamonds} {Q-Spades} for top pair
Toft: {Q-Hearts} {J-Spades} for an open-ended straight draw

Turn: bink! {9-Hearts}

River: {K-Hearts} to further improve Toft's hand to a flush

Ladies and gentlemen, Luca Pagano has left the building. Actually he's probably in the bar. But either way, Mr. Top Of The EPT Leader Board is no longer for this tournament.

Naud!

According to our roving reporter Gloria Balding, just before the break Arnaud Mattern got himself in a spot of bother.

There was a raise and a call ahead of him and Mattern reraised; when the original raiser shoved the original caller got out of the way but Mattern made the call.

Mattern's {A-?} {Q-?} was behind his opponent's {A-?} {K-?} from the start, and the {A-?} {K-?} made a four flush to boot. The hapless Mattern is down to just 40,000.

Play Resumes

We're back with the fifth level of the day. The plan is to play this level and the next one before calling it a night, and we should be getting awfully close to the money bubble by that point.

Glo and Queso

Just before the dinner break, Gloria pulled aside Jim "Mr_BigQueso" Collopy for a quick chat. It's Queso's 21st birthday today, and he talked about what it was like to taste his "very first" beer ever (we snap-call on that one), and his plans for dominating the American poker scene now that he's legal. Check out what Collopy had to say before he had amassed over 300,000 chips:

Don't Mess With Toth

Curiousness at the table by the window as Richard Toth raised to 6,500 under the gun and Johannes Strassmann to his immediate left flat-called. On the button, Jeffrey Hakim made it 22,000 - but Toth now re-popped for 55,500. Strassmann swiftly got out of the way, and after a little while, so did Hakim.

Small Stack Turns to Bigoni

Christian Oppersklaski opened for 8,000 under the gun, and then called the 66,300 shove from Giovanni Bigoni on the button.

Oppersklaski: {A-Diamonds} {K-Diamonds}
Bigoni: {A-Spades} {A-Hearts}

Board: {3-Spades} {8-Clubs} {2-Clubs} {10-Clubs} {8-Hearts}

A fist pump and a little, "Woo!" later, Bigoni was up to 140,000.
