Domination, Suck, Resuck

Sickest of the sick here, as Sebastien Bidinger got his last in and was called by Marcel Buissink.

Bidinger: {K-?} {10-?}
Buissink: {A-?} {K-?}

Flop: {5-?} {10-?} {K-?} to put Bidinger firmly in the lead

Turn: {K-?} giving him a full house

River: ...

...

... {A-?}!

Buissink made a bigger house to knock out Didinger while players around the table made various noises that expressed exactly how sick they thought that board was.

Hila Monster

Well, not a monster stack exactly, but a double up at least.

Cyril Naim raised, and Daniel van Kalkeren shoved behind for a little over 100,000. Dan Ionut Hila called all in for 70,000 from the small blind and though Naim thought about it for a long time, he eventually passed.

Van Kalkeren: {8-Clubs} {8-Spades}
Hila: {J-Clubs} {J-Spades}

Board: {K-Hearts} {Q-Clubs} {5-Diamonds} {10-Clubs} {K-Diamonds}

Hila doubled to 180,000 with all the various blinds, antes and initial raises in the pot, while van Kalkeren was left with a dangerously short stack. Naim presumably would have smacked the life out of the board, judging by the expression of utter horror on his face as it was dealt out...

Double Up Party for Fest

Allan Baekke, by now very definitely chip leader on over 800,000 with former chip leader Johannes Strassmann down to around 570,000, called an all in from Johann Fest.

Fest: {6-Hearts} {6-Clubs}
Baekke: {K-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds}

Board: {2-?} {A-?} {2-?} {J-?} {7-?}

"Just tell me when you want another double," said Baekke cheerfully. Fest doubled to 70,000; Baekke is still chip leader on 770,000.

Gaines on the Rise

Christian Oppersklaski raised to 12,500 in middle position and Lee "Bill Ivey" Gaines re-raised enough from the big blind to cover his opponent's stack.

Oppersklaski called all in with {Q-Clubs}{10-Spades} and was trailing Gaines' {J-Clubs}{J-Hearts}. The board ran out {8-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{3-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} and Oppersklaski is out just before the first break of the day.

Lee Gaines is up to almost 400,000.

Hundoryna Lex'd

Nadzeya Hundoryna also managed to survive the bubble, and when she shoved for her last 45,000 or so Lex Veldhuis made the call.

Hundoryna: {A-Hearts} {5-Spades}
Veldhuis: {Q-Clubs} {Q-Spades}

Board: {2-Diamonds} {7-Clubs} {3-Spades} {8-Hearts} {10-Diamonds}

Out she goes.

Baekke Toasts Toft

Casper Toft, all in for his last two big blinds not long ago, managed to survive the bubble, but has finally bitten the tournament dust.

It looks as though the initial accident which left him short was caused by Allan Baekke, who had moved up to around 700,000 and within sight of the chip lead, and indeed it would be Baekke who finished him off. All in preflop, Toft had a snowflake's chance in hell.

Toft: {A-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds}
Baekke: {A-Clubs} {A-Spades}

Board: {6-Clubs} {5-Spades} {Q-Spades} {2-Hearts} {7-Clubs}

They shook hands, and then Toft laughingly went as though to punch Baekke in the face. He stopped at the last moment though, and headed for the cash desk instead.

Elite Eighty

With the elimination of Alfio Battisti on the bubble, the rest of the room broke into a big ovation. The remaining 80 players are now assured of a payday upon their exit. Let the parade to the cashier's table commence!

Alfio Battisti is the Bubble Boy

Battisti Bubbles
Battisti Bubbles
What a tough way to go. From the cutoff, Alfio Battisti raised to 11,500 and Evgeniy Zaytsev re-raised on the button. The blinds folded and Battisti went all in for roughly 100,000. Zaytsev called and the hands were revaled:

Zaytsev: {3-Spades}{3-Diamonds}
Battisti: {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}

The flop came {J-Spades}{A-Spades}{2-Spades} and while Battisti flopped top set, Zaytsev picked up a flush draw. The {10-Spades} turn was not what Battisti wanted to see, needing the board to pair on the river to stay alive. The {5-Spades} fell and while both played a flush, Zaytsev's three played.
