Antonius Movin On Up

An opponent made it 2,200 to go preflop and Patrik Antonius made the call.

The flop came down {q-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{q-Clubs} and the two checked to the turn.

The {2-Clubs} fell and Antonius made a bet of 3,700 and was called.

When the {2-Diamonds} hit the river, Antonius bet 12,000 and after some time, his opponent called, only to see he was beat when Antonius flipped over {q-Spades}{2-Spades}.

Antonius is now up to around 55,000.

Nitsche Nixed

Nitsche - philosophical about his fate
Nitsche - philosophical about his fate
We arrived just in time to see Dominik Nitsche standing up from his table with a sigh.

It turned out that Noah Schwartz had raised and Joao Barbosa had called. Nitsche squeezed to 5,000, Schwartz made it 11,000 to go, and once Barbosa had got out of their way, Nitsche shoved for 33,000 with {A-Clubs} {K-Spades}. Schwartz naturally called with his {A-Spades} {A-Diamonds}, and that was the end of that.

Channing Chipping Up

Neil Channing made it 1,500 to go preflop and was called by one opponent. The flop came down {j-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}.

Channing made it 2,800 and was called.

After the turn of the {4-Clubs}, Channing bet 6,600 and was called.

The river {3-Spades} gave Channing the ability to make it 23,000 to go and his opponent called all-in.

Channing showed two aces to take the pot from his opponent who held two jacks.

Channing is up to 95,000 now.

Aguiar Eliminated

Gunned down
Gunned down
Jonathan "FatalError" Aguiar has been eliminated. He had reraised all-in preflop with {A-Clubs} {7-Clubs} from the small blind but the big blind found {10-Spades} {10-Clubs} behind.

The board ran out a comprehensive {10-Hearts} {9-Hearts} {6-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} {5-Hearts} and the NAPT finalist was out.

Outfoxed

Stuart Fox just took a serious hit after he called Giuseppe Pipino's button raise to 2,000 from the big blind.

The flop came {K-Clubs} {Q-Clubs} {4-Spades} and Fox checked, without any hesitation Pipino moved all-in for 8,650. Fox checked the size of the bet, and made the call flipping {K-?} {10-Clubs} ahead of Pipino's {J-?} {10-?}.

The turn was the {9-Clubs} and Pipino jumped ahead but Fox picked up a flush draw, the river was the {2-Diamonds} and Pipino celebrated, hi-fiving a member of the Italian media.

More for Matta

We walked up to Nabil Matta's table to see him all in for about 29,000 chips. We were too late to see any of the betting action, but the board showed {K-Hearts} {4-Hearts} {7-Spades} {J-Diamonds}, and there was already about 58,000 in the pot when we joined the hand. Matta's opponent was deep in the tank, and someone eventually called the clock on him. He took another 30-45 seconds to think it over before folding, and Matta picks up that nice pot.

"Come on, show!" pleaded someone at the table. Matta smirked and mucked his cards, but he held both hands up and wiggled four fingers on each to indicate that he had -- or at least wanted his table to believe he had -- pocket fours.

The Lebanese Poker Champion is up to about 89,000 after that pot.

Seidel Grinding Back

Erik Seidel in the under-the-gun position bet on the {8-Hearts} {4-Hearts} {3-Spades} flop and the gentleman on the button called. The two other players in the hand folded, and they saw a turn.

The turn was the {K-Clubs} and this time Seidel bet out a single yellow 5,000-denomination chip, leaving himself just 11,000 behind. His opponent considered it for a while, but eventually passed, bumping the Seidel stack up to a still below-average but nevertheless workable 25,000.

Buonanno Not Afraid of Ivey

He who dares wins.
He who dares wins.
Antonio Buonanno opened for 1,525 under the gun and both Alain Roy and Phil Ivey called behind to see a {K-Spades} {2-Clubs} {4-Clubs} flop. It checked around to Ivey who bet 3,100, his face as trademark-blank as ever - but Buonanno now made it 9,500 and first Roy and then Ivey passed.

Buonanno, who had taken a few small hits, was back up to around 115,000 after that. Ivey just dipped to 46,000.
