Suharto Gives Up On The Flop

Darus Suharto has been active during the first blind level and as a result, he now finds himself with a nice pile of green chips, although they are only worth 25 points each.

He continued his aggression by opening the action from early position with a raise to 250. The button called and the big blind came along for the ride.

Flop: {K-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{6-Clubs}

The big blind checked, Suharto lead out with a 450 bet, only to see the button announce raise and nonchalantly toss in chips totalling 1,200. The big blind quickly folded, as did Suharto, leaving the button to rake in the pot and muck his cards.

Suharto still has around 30,750 in front of him

Table of Death Die

Woefully, neither of our former potential Tables Of Death came to anything.

Kevin Stani and Leo Margets both got bored of waiting or some such - either way, they have been reassigned seats at separate tables across the room.

And that crazy table involving Darus Suharto and Fernando Brito, among others, has been broken already. We're not sure why exactly - barring the odd anomalous Level 1 exit, we're pretty sure we haven't got to that serious table-breaking stage yet - but nevertheless, the formerly very frightening table is now empty but for a dealer idly riffling a deck of cards.

Meanwhile another table of interest has formed. Antonio Matias, winner of the 2009 EPT Vilamoura, is sitting next to last year's Qualifier of the Year Pierre Neuville - who if you recall finished second in the same event. It could be an auspicious start for the two of them.

Gremlins

Please accept our apologies; some gremlins seem to have got into the internet here at the Casino de Barcelona, but we think they've been dealt with now. We'll be feeding in everything we've seen over the past half hour shortly.

Just Stack Those Chips On Toth

The Hungarian member of Team PokerStars, Richard Toth, has been busy adding to his stack and currently sits behind a pile of chips totalling 34,500.

By the turn the board read {7-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{3-Spades}{4-Hearts}, Toth's opponent checked, Toth kept his foot on the gas and fired out a bet of 3,225 and with a look of complete disgust, Toth's opponent folded.

The Ladies are Too Hot For The Cowboys

Team Pokerstars Pro Darus Suharto is a real gentlemen at the table as this hands goes to show.

A player wearing Terminator style sunglasses opens from early position to 400 and Suharto made the three-bet from the button making it 1,100 to play. The players in the blinds folded and the action was back onto The Terminator who made the call. The flop was {q-Spades} {4-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} and The Terminator checked and Suharto bet 875. The Terminator went into classic Phil Hellmuth pose before making the call. The turn was the {4-Spades} and again The Terminator checked the action over to Suharto. Suharto had just under 30,000 in front of him and he took 1,575 of that pile and gently threw them into the middle.

The Terminator didn't take long before throwing a solitary yellow chip into the middle and declaring a raise for a total of 4,000. The Team Pokerstars Pro sat upright in his chair and seemed surprised by his opponents actions and after a brief pause took his 1,575 back and replaced it with 6,500 and declared the three-bet. Action back to The Terminator who remained motionless before declaring all-in.

"How much does he have?" Asked Suharto.

It was 16,175 and Suharto quietly counted the exact amount. He would have 7,000 left if he made the call which he duly did.

The Terminator: {q-Diamonds} {q-Hearts}

Suharto: {k-Spades} {k-Diamonds}

The Terminator had a full house and only two remaining Cowboys in the deck could rescue Suharto. For the first time his opponent took off his sunglasses and you could see the nervousness etched into every nook and cranny on his face. The river was the {5-Clubs} and Suharto - ever the gentleman - tapped the table and said.

"Nice hand my friend."

Do What the Man Sayed

Sam El Sayed, who took down the WPT Amneville just a few weeks ago for over €400,000 and then followed it up just a week later with a second place finish at the Barriere Poker Tour Grand Final for almost another €100,000, is so far having a good day here in Barcelona.

We caught up with him check-raising on a {q-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} flop; his opponent Daniel Ferreira called. El Sayed bet out a little over 3,000 on the {a-Clubs} turn and Ferreira called that as well, but the 5,050 that El Sayed bet out on the {q-Hearts} river proved too much for Ferreira to call.

El Sayed looked calm and in control as he picked up the chunky pot and upped his stack to around 43,000.

De Melo: Going, Gomes, Gone

Fatima Moreira de Melo
Fatima Moreira de Melo

This has been a short and not very sweet EPT run for Fatima Moreira de Melo. She had a full house, as we understand it, but Team PokerStars Pro Alexandre Gomes seems to have hit a one-outer to make a royal flush. Now that is what we in the business like to call a bad beat.

Gomes was up to 55,000 after that, while de Melo was down to the felt. Her last few chips went into the middle a hand or two later and they never came out again, meaning that the Team PokerStars SportStar has a whole week to enjoy the manifold delights of this great city.
