Jose Luis Navarro Giner Eliminated in 20th Place (€20,000)

Jose Luis Navarro Giner
Jose Luis Navarro Giner

Ognjen Sekularac opened for 66,000 on the button and in the small blind Jose Luis Navarro Giner shoved for 328,000. Over to Shander de Vries in the big blind, who unexpectedly called. Sekularac got out of their way and they were on their backs.

Giner: {5-Clubs}{5-Spades}
De Vries: {a-Hearts}{a-Spades}

Board: {4-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{q-Hearts}
Giner hit the rail, and de Vries was up to 1.6 million.

Candido Goncalves Doubled Up Through Luis Rufas

Candido Goncalves opened the action from under the gun, making it 85,000 to play, Thor Stang called from the button and Luis Rufas squeezed from the Small Blind making it a rather expensive 315,000 to play. Goncalves took his time before making the call and then Stang took even longer before finally making the lay down.

The flop was {7-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} {j-Spades}

Luis Rufas shoved all-in and Goncalves called and we had a huge pot.

Rufas was in the lead with {q-Diamonds} {q-Hearts} and Goncalves needed an Ace of a Jack when he exposed {a-Hearts} {j-Diamonds}.

The turn was the {a-Clubs} and Goncalves banged the tabled with excitement and you could hear the moans from the Spanish contingent on the rail. Goncalves was physically shaking with emotion.

Only a river could save Rufas from taking a huge step backwards in this tournament.

The dealer flips over the river and it is the {j-Hearts}! "Yeah!!" Screams Goncalves as he makes his full house and takes a further 847,000 from the Rufas stack and is now a major player in this tournament.

Puchkov Pushes

Up on the feature table, we believe Konstantin Puchkov raised (it really is rather difficult to work out exactly what's going on up there); either way we are sure that Giuseppe Pantaleo reraised to 204,000 and Puchkov called.

They saw a {4-Spades}{7-Spades}{k-Diamonds} flop and Giuseppe Pantaleo - first to act so he must have been in one of the blinds - bet out 166,000. Puchkov called and they saw another card.

The turn was the {3-Hearts} and Pantaleo checked this time, but Puchkov announced all in for 675,000.

Pantaleo tanked up for some time. "I will show," Puchkov told him.

"You will show?" replied Pantaleo. I have so much outs... All right, I fold."

We don't know whether Puchkov actually showed as our access is severely limited, but we understand that Puchkov had a king. They continued to discuss it long after the hand was over.

Puchkov: "I decided by the flop I go all in."

Pantaleo: "You a sicko! You have just a king! I thought you had a set of kings."

Sekularec Dodges Bullets

Ognjen Sekularac
Ognjen Sekularac

Ognjen Sekularec has just avoided the pocket aces of Gergios Skotadis, after the Greek gave a little speech regarding his thoughts on Sekularec's home country.

On a flop reading {6-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{j-Clubs}, Skotadis bet 70,000, Sekularec raised to 170,000 prompting Skotadis to exclaim his disappointment in being raised.

"Serbia, Serbia, Serbia. What have you done to me?" said Skotadis, before adding, "I thought people from Belgrade were kind!"

After a couple of minutes he raised all-in, a bet that Sekularec decided was too much to call and he folded.

"I only play aces, kings and ace-king," informed Skotadis as he flipped over {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds} to his table mates.
