Ready, Jorstedt-y, Go!

The flop read {a-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{6-Clubs} when we arrived to find Mattias Jorstedt betting out 40,000. Matvey Linov, the young Russian who amassed a huge stack on Day 1a, flat-called.

The turn was the {3-Spades} and Jorstedt bet out again, this time to the tune of 100,000. Linov thought about it for some time, but eventually folded, muttering to himself.

Linov was left with a still thoroughly respectable 210,000. Jorstedt however has been on a bit of a rush - his 365,000 was good enough for the chip lead at the last break, but he is now a chip monster on 495,000.

Drescher Departs

Daniel Drescher
Daniel Drescher

After several raises, Daniel Drescher moved all in for another 45,600 on top. Vitalijs Zavorotnijs slowly made the call. Drescher was racing with {a-Spades}{q-Clubs} against the {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds} of Zavorotnijs. The board ran out {6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{3-Spades}, and with no high cards to help him, Drescher was ejected from the tournament. With the big boost to his stack, Zavorotnijs is up to 275,000.

The Age Old Story: Can You Fold Kings Preflop?

Luca Pagano
Luca Pagano

Jonathan Weekes opened preflop to 6,000 before Ali Tekintamgac 3-bet the small blind to 17,200. Then the big blind Luca Pagano raised to 48,000 only to see Weekes push all-in, easily covering both other players.

Tekintamgac folded fairly quickly but Pagano took as much time as he could get, counting back out his remaining 182,000 stack.

The Italian stated, "Very likely I'm gonna fold but I wanna be sure...Is it easy to fold two kings here?"

Finally, after several minutes Pagano folded asking Weekes to show him aces, the latter gestured for Pagano to fold his hand face up and that he (Weekes) would reciprocate.

Pagano did so, showing the {K-Hearts} and {K-Diamonds} and Weekes quickly turned over the {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Spades}. Pagano grimaced but remained cool and tapped the table, "Nice hand."

Weekes picks up another 70,000 in chips while getting someone to wrongly fold the second best starting hand in poker.

Donato Donates to Thorn

A micro-double up for Raymi Sanchez Thorn as he pushed for around 18,000 from the small blind to a 5,800 raise from Attilio Donato on the button. Donato didn't look very happy about calling but did it anyway, and he took a small hit to leave him with 165,000 while Thorn doubled to stay in the game on 40,000 or so.

"I bluff," said Donato, somewhat unnecessarily.

Thorn: {a-Hearts}{6-Clubs}
Donato: {j-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}

Board: {3-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{4-Spades}

There Ain't No Wahlbeck, Girl!

Ville Wahlbeck - phone home
Ville Wahlbeck - phone home

Team Pokerstars Pro Ville Wahlbeck has been knocked out in a huge pot against his fellow Team Pro Ivan Demidov. The board was reading {3-Clubs} {9-Clubs} {2-Spades} {6-Clubs} {3-Diamonds} with Demidov showing the {J-Clubs} {10-Clubs} and the pot being shipped to the Russian.

According to the Finnish media, Wahlbeck had mucked on the river having seen his opponent's hand but had told them that he had {5-} {4-} for the turned straight.

Demidov is up to 470,000 and among the chip leaders.

Joep van den Bijgaart has also been eliminated.

Heinz Opens a Can of Worms with Mattern

Heinz Kamutzki
Heinz Kamutzki

Heinz Kamutzki raised to 5,100 in the cutoff but Team PokerStars Pro Arnaud Mattern in the small blind had other plans and made it 20,200 to go.

"How much more you got?" Kamutzki asked, and Mattern silently re-stacked his remaining chips into a more easily countable format, and we ascertained that he had 116,000 behind. Kamutzki only just covered him with 140,000. Kamutzki squirmed for a little while before eventually folding, and Mattern moved up to 145,000.

One More Break

This is the last break of the day, and the first time that fewer than 100 players are still around to take one. Back in 15 minutes to play one more level before calling it a very early night.

Level: 14

Blinds: 1,500/3,000

Ante: 300

Last Level O'Clock

75 minutes more, and we are done for the day. Good thing, too - PokerStars are hosting a somewhat belated EPT Tallinn welcome party for players later on tonight.
