Weekes Strong

The official chip counts from the first break put British circuit regular Jonathan Weekes at 28,000, but we can only assume that this was a typo as he is currently our chip leader.

Weekes was short towards the end of last night, but doubled through Kristoffer Thorsson right at the death to put him near the top of the counts at 145,400 when Day 2 came around. Since then (barring a theoretically possible but somewhat unlikely drop to the aforementioned 28,000) he has only increased his stack, and is currently at a whopping 355,000.

Montgomery Doubles Up

Montgomery - much happier than he looks
Montgomery - much happier than he looks

We arrived at Scott Montgomery's table to find the 2008 WSOP Main Event finalist all in on a {9-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{5-Spades} flop. His opponent Christopher Jensen had tanked up long enough for the clock to be called, but no sooner than TD Thomas Kremser had reached the table than Jensen decided to make the call and the two players turned over their cards.

Montgomery: {6-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for a pair and a gutshot
Jensen: {a-Hearts}{q-Spades} for overcards

Turn: {j-Hearts}

River: {k-Hearts}

Montgomery's pair stayed ahead and he doubled up to 55,000, around what he started the day with.

Maxim-um Value for Jorstedt

Mattias Jorstedt yesterday - he looks much the same today
Mattias Jorstedt yesterday - he looks much the same today

We arrived just in time to see Maxim Panyar leaving the table, his chips disappearing into the stack of Mattias Jorstedt. Whatever Panyar was holding it couldn't beat the {a-}{k-} of Jorstedt, which looked so pretty lying face up on the table that the dealer accidentally shuffled the deck for the next hand without them. Jorstedt eventually pushed his cards to the dealer, who nodded his thanks and play continued. Jorstedt was up to 250,000 after that.

By the by, also recently busted: EPT Barcelona finalist Mihai Manole.

Left Weekes At The Knees

Jonathan Weekes looks to be the new chip leader here in Tallinn with a whooping 410,000.

He just explained how he eliminated the Russian Mikhail Mazunin on a Jack-high two club flop when holding {A-Clubs} {3-Clubs} and made the flush against his opponent's {J-} {J-} to knock him out.

Markushevski Dodges Lithuanian-on-Lithuanian Aggression

Vadim Markushevski raised to 4,400 from early position, and next to act, Andrej Vinogrodskij called. The big blind,Donelius Kudulis, joined them to see the {10-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{2-Spades} flop. Kudulis bet out 8,500, and Markushevski folded, leaving the two Lithuanians to battle it out. Vinogrodskij checked out his countryman's stack, which only had about 15,000 left in it. Vinogrodskij slid out enough chips to put Kudulis all in, and despite the pot size, Kudulis declined to call all in. As he pulled in the chips, Vinogrodskij showed {4-Spades}{4-Hearts} for just a pair of fours. He's up to 118,000.

Paul Pulls The Trigo

Heinz Kamutzki opened preflop to 4,200 and Max Lykov flatted in middle position, Paul Pires-Trigo pushed all-in for around 30,000 and Kamutzki tanked before folding but Lykov snap-called.

Pires-Trigo: {A-Hearts} {K-Clubs}
Lykov: {A-Clubs} {Q-Spades}

The board was very pro Pires-Trigo, coming {5-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} {2-Clubs} {K-Diamonds} {4-Clubs} to double him up while Kamutzki admitted he would've have won the lot if he'd called.

A Plaus-ible Bet?

Clayton Mozdzen had opened preflop to 5,200 before Aleh Plauski reraised to 13,500 next to him. Everyone folded to back to Mozdzen who made the call.

The flop was {8-Diamonds} {8-Spades} {A-Hearts} and Mozdzen check-called a bet of 16,500 to see a {7-Spades} turn. Mozdzen checked again and Plauski thought for several minutes before betting 37,000 and now it was Mozdzen's turn to think deep.

"You like you hand?" said Mozdzen but he got no response. Mozdzen flashed {A-Clubs} {Q-Clubs} and threw it into the muck. "You got ace-king?" said the Canadian but again Plauski said and showed nothing.
