Storakers Sinks Further

The small-fish-in-big-pond unhappiness continued for Johan Storakers as he made it 59,000 from the button, only to fold to a big reraise from Perica Bukara in the big blind. Bukara showed him {a-}{k-} offsuit, although if this made Storakers feel any better he certainly didn't let it show. He dropped a shade further, to 435,000.

Board VitKind to Calia

Nicolo Calia raised to 52,000 in the cutoff, and small blind Bassam Elnajjar flatted. Then Dmitry Vitkind squeezed to 145,000. In a matter of seconds, Calia moved all in for a total of 347,000, Elnajjar folded, and Vitkind called. Calia's {k-Spades}{j-Spades} was up against Vitkind's {5-Hearts}{5-Clubs}. The board came out {9-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{3-Clubs}, giving Calia a better pair and the double up. He's got 770,000 to sit on now, while Vitkind is left with 370,000.

All Quiet On The Eastern Front

Play has slowed to a crawl, with all the short stacks on one table holding on while the big stacks have gotten a little more cautious.

Jonthan Weekes opened to 60,000 from early position but folded when Kevin Stani 3-bet to 145,000 on the button. The deadlock will have to be broken soon though...

Short Stacks Go to War at the Big Stack Table

You really have to feel for Javed Abrahams and Johan Storakers. Although their stacks are in the grand scheme of things just kind of middling, they are two shortest stacks at their table - as we mentioned earlier, around three quarters of the chips in play are at their table making them rather less powerful than they might be were they seated at the other table. So no wonder that they're getting a little frustrated.

Just now it folded around to Abrahams in the small blind who took a 60,000 stab at the small pot. But Storakers in the big blind had other plans and went all in, prompting a quick fold and a bit of a scowl from Abrahams, who dropped to 400,000.

Down-'Tern

Arnaud Mattern opened for 45,000 in early position only for Konstantin Bilyaver to min-reraise to 70,000 to his immediate left. It folded back around to Mattern who eyed him up and then made the call.

The flop came down {6-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{8-Spades} and Mattern checked. After just the slightest of pauses Bilyaver checked behind.

They saw a {2-Diamonds} turn and this time Mattern bet out 78,000. Bilyaver did not look up, but quietly counted out the call and then pushed it across the line. They headed to the river.

The river was the {7-Diamonds} and Mattern reverted to checking. Bilyaver thought about his options for a few moments and then bet to the tune of 95,000. Mattern instantly announced call, but looked terribly surprised when Bilyaver turned over {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}. Mattern showed him {a-Hearts} but mucked his other card as he dipped to 1.8 million. Bilyaver increased to 1.6 million.

Just Before The Break

Steven van Zadelhoff picked of a Perica Bukara river bluff of 85,000 on a board {6-Diamonds} {7-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds} {7-Clubs} board with {K-Hearts} {J-Diamonds} after Bukara was forced to show {K-Hearts} {3-Clubs}.

The last hand of the level saw Arnaud Mattern open to 45,000 from the cutoff and both blinds, Jonathan Weekes and Javed Abrahams called. But both the Brits folded to an 80,000 bet on the {10-} {8-} {3-} flop.

Weekes in Charge

Jonathan Weekes is vying for the role of table bully despite being seated with all of his fellow big stacks. This time, it was Javed Abrahams he picked on. Weekes opened to 50,000 from the small blind, and in the big blind, Abrahams three-bet to 125,000. Weekes moved all in, and we're not sure we've ever seen anyone fold as quickly as Abrahams. After losing a chunk of his stack with that move, Abrahams is down to 440,000.

The next hand, it folded to Weekes on the button. He raised to 50,000 and took down the blinds and antes, worth 46,000 each round.
