End of Day 3

Perica Bukara
Perica Bukara

Well, that was an interesting day.

The day started out at rapid pace and the bubble burst very quickly. But then once we got into the money, play seemed to slow down incredibly. Even tournament director Thomas Kremser expressed his surprise at how long it was actually taking and his prediction of an 8pm finish. Instead 25 players will be coming back tomorrow.

Day 1B Perica Bukara is the chip leader once more with 1,326,000 and he's closely followed by the Russian Konstantin Bilyaver (1,240,000) who won that huge three-way pot with second set vs bottom set vs top and bottom pair.

Also in the mix is the only remaining former EPT winner still in the field, Arnaud Mattern, he has 1,155,000 and is still in the hunt at becoming the first ever double EPT winner. Johan Storakers, Steven van Zadelhoff and Ivan Demidov are also all still in the mix meaning that tomorrow's day 4, where they play to a final table, will certainly be an interesting one!

We will see you tomorrow from 12pm (GMT+2) for all the action!

Konstantin Bilyaver WIns Huge Three-Way All-in

Steven van Zadelhoff - very depressed.
Steven van Zadelhoff - very depressed.

With the board reading {10-Clubs} {A-Hearts} {9-Spades} in a three-way pot between Konstantin Bilyaver, Chady Merhej and Steven van Zadelhoff, it was checked to the Dutchman who bet 52,000.

Bilyaver then check/raised to 135,000 and suddenly Merhej moved all-in! Van Zadelhoff briefly now thought and also pushed all-in and suddenly the onus was back on Bilyaver who stood up in disbelief at what he was seeing. After about 20 seconds, he also made the call as the rest of the table, including Arnaud Mattern and Luca Pagano could only exclaim, "Wow!" at what they were seeing.

Van Zadelhoff: {A-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds}
Bilyaver: {10-Diamonds} {10-Clubs}
Merhej: {9-Hearts} {9-Clubs}

Unbelievably, Merhej was drawing dead, while Bilyaver only had to avoid one of two case aces to nearly triple up. The {2-Diamonds} turn was a blank, as was the {Q-Hearts} river. Van Zadelhoff and Merhej both looked very disappointed, the latter eliminated.

Van Zadelhoff dropped to around 300,000 while Bilyaver's all-in was for about 420,000 meaning he is probably now at the 1.2 million level now and nearly the very top of the pile.

Heinz Meanz Outz

Heinz Kamutzki pushed all-in over the top of Anatoli Jevtejev's huge raise, the Russian taking a long time before making the call. But the call, he did make.

Kamutzki: {K-Diamonds} {10-Hearts}
Jevtejev: {A-Spades} {7-Spades}

The flop was {K-Spades} {J-Spades} {7-Diamonds}, also known as something for everyone. But the {5-Spades} turn meant Kamutzki was drawing dead and he was eliminated after the {J-Hearts} river.

Weekes Takes Seconds...

Chady Merhej opened preflop to 29,000 and Jonathan Weekes reraised behind to 75,000 only for Mattias Jorstedt to push all-in from the blinds. Merhej folded but Weekes made the call.

Weekes: {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts}
Jorstedt: {J-Hearts} {J-Diamonds}

Board: {5-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs} {8-Diamonds} {6-Hearts} {8-Diamonds}

With that big pot, Jonathan Weekes moves up among the chip leaders once more while Jorstedt is out.

Kärkkäinen Hits the Jackpot

Seppo Parkkinen
Seppo Parkkinen

Antti Kärkkäinen was all in for 157,000 and really didn't expect to get two callers. Seppo Parkkinen moved all in over top, and Attilio Donato had both players covered. Kärkkäinen had to like what he saw at showdown.

Kärkkäinen: {7-Clubs}{7-Spades}
Parkkinen: {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}
Donato: {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}

The board fell {j-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{5-Spades}{8-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}, and Kärkkäinen spiked a set on the river just for fun. He is now in possession of 540,000 while Parkkinen was left with 155,000 and Donato with 270,000.

Pessed Off

And it's like dominoes on Perica Bukara's table. As soon as Terrazas was out, Jean-Daniel Pessina fell in the very next hand he held {A-} {J-} against {J-} {10-} of Kevin Stani. Stani though managed to flop trip {10-}'s and that was enough to send Pessina (playing his first ever live tournament) to the rail.
