Ziemba Busto

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

The latest casualty of EPT Copenhagen is Michael Ziemba, whose last chips went in preflop with {A-}{Q-Clubs}, unluckily finding Ivan Chinyakou ready to take him on with {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}. The board came nine-high and after a quick check it emerged that Ziemba was covered. Chinyakou up to 40,500.

Claus But No Cigar

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

Claus Nielsen had fired out 1,700 on the turn of a {10-Diamonds} {9-Clubs} {4-Spades} {2-Hearts} board only for Danny Neess to bump it up to 6,050 next to him. Antonio Mattias now cold-called his bet and Nielsen also made the call.

The {Q-Hearts} came on the river and it was checked around to Neess who bet 12,875, Mattias quickly folded but Nielsen was far more obstinate. The young Dane finally made a crying call but Neess flipped {10-Hearts} {10-Clubs} and Nielsen was left to flick his cards into the muck highly frustrated.

AAstrUP

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

Lasse Aastrup won a reasonable pot from Theo Jorgensen just now after the Nordic Poker Award winner for Performance of the Year finally came to the decision to pay his river raise.

A rail had formed (and a very sober, polite, considerately quiet rail at that) to watch Jorgensen pondering the {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{8-Spades}{10-Hearts} board and the 5,000 Aastrup had raised on top of his 3,000 river bet. He took quite some time, his stack having dropped to around 25,000, but made the call. He mucked when Aastrup revealed {A-Clubs}{A-Spades}.

Brits Abroad

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

James Akenhead and Martins Adeniya started the day seated next to each other (we understand that the casino staff were just putting all the late registrants at the same table rather than in empty seats at other tables) but their table broke some time ago and they were both moved to new seats. Neither of seems to have prospered from the move.

We found Akenhead facing an 1,800 bet from Luca Falaschi on a {6-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{k-Clubs} flop. Akenhead folded and Falaschi showed him a {k-}. Akenhead looked a little nauseous, and it now down to 11,000.

At the next table, Adeniya was not faring much better. We found him betting around 1,100 on a {5-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{k-Spades} flop to a check from his opponent. Said opponent folded and Adeniya picked up the pot, but even after that he was still on less than half his starting stack at 14,500.

Where the Ladies At?

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

Once again, this tournament is a very heavily male-dominated affair - ladies, where are you? We seem to have got a grand total of four women playing today, and curiously three of them are seated at the same table. Mari Nitteberg (we can't say if she lives up to her name), Stine Marie Bringsli and Camilla Reventlow are all huddled around the same piece of felt, right by the rail and thus possibly giving passing spectators an inaccurate picture of the gender distribution in this tournament. The only other woman playing, one Annette Obrestad, is buried way over the other side of the room amid a sea of men. We'll let you know how they all get on.

Stats at the Break

Level 4 : 150/300, 0 ante

The players are now on a 15 minute break, all 194 of them remaining. The rest of the 213-strong starting field are on a more permanent break from the event.

It's hard to believe that the average stack is still just 32,900, when you see players like Jakob Carlsson with 71,000!

Gert Outta Here

Level 4 : 150/300, 0 ante

Gert Andersen has been eliminated by Alber Hanna after the former's short stack push with {Q-Hearts} {10-Spades} ran into Hanna's {K-Hearts} {K-Clubs} on a {10-Diamonds} {A-Diamonds} {3-} {7-} {9-Hearts} board.

Nut Flush Not Good Enough for Annette

Level 4 : 150/300, 0 ante
Annette Obrestad
Annette Obrestad

There was around 11,000 in the pot when we sauntered up to Annette Obrestad's table; the board read {9-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}. Benjamin Jensen checked to Obrestad, who bet 6,000. Back to Jensen, who now made it 15,000 to go.

Obrestad tanked up for a long, long time. "Am I allowed to show my hand?" she eventually asked the dealer, but the answer was no, unless she wanted the hand in question to be declared dead. She tanked up for a few more moments, and then showed anyway, folding {a-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for the nut flush face up. Jensen declined to show his hand - although the look on his face seemed to us to suggest that he had the goods - and picked up the pot.

Obrestad is at 25,000.
