Eamesy Come, Eamesy Go

Level 8 : 400/800, 75 ante
John Eames - Busto unfortunately
John Eames - Busto unfortunately

John Eames has been eliminated from EPT Snowfest after a play with pocket eights went terribly wrong for him.

Eames was busy stacking the chips he had won in the previous hand against Alessio Isaia when disaster struck. Dominique Franchi (UTG+1) kicked things off with a raise to 1,650, the table folded to Sofia Lövgren on the button and she made the call. Eames, from the big blind, first asked how many chips Lövgren had an when he was informed he raised it up to 5,450.

Franchi then looked at both of his opponent's stacks before making another raise, this one topping the scales at 10,850. This was enough to force Lövgren to fold but Eames was not planning on folding. After a little thinking time he announced he was all in and cannot have been happy when Franchi snap-called.

Eames: {8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}
Franchi: {k-Diamonds}{k-Spades}

The final board ran out {q-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{7-Clubs} and with it Eames' tournament was brought to an abrupt end and he will not be repeating his third place finish he achieved at the recent EPT Copenhagen Main Event.

Bathroom Break

Level 7 : 300/600, 50 ante

The players are taking a little 10 minute break before playing the last level of the night. Back shortly.

No Cake for the Birthday Boy

Level 7 : 300/600, 50 ante

Julien Brecard has been knocked out after he made a big bluff, pushing all-in for 24,000 into a 27,000 pot on the turn of a {4-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} board with {8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}. But found he was drawing dead when Michael Tureniec made the call with {k-Clubs}{q-Hearts}, rendering the {5-Clubs} river meaningless.

At least Brecard can now go and celebrate his birthday.

Last Tango for Danzer

Level 7 : 300/600, 50 ante
George Danzer - count the headlights on the highway
George Danzer - count the headlights on the highway

George Danzer is out. We didn't see it ourselves - we just got there in time to see Danzer scowling and leaving - but Philipp Salewski who was raking in the pot told us that Danzer shoved for 16,000 with {a-}{j-} over a raise and a call, before Salewski himself reshoved with {a-}{q-}.

It's Tureniec-ing Into a One Man Show

Level 7 : 300/600, 50 ante
Michael Tureniec
Michael Tureniec

Michael Tureniec, the EPT Copenhagen Champion, has really got his foot on the gas right now and is sat behind several towers of chips that total around 210,000!

He had already taken over the chip lead after this hand and he has now extended his advantage over the rest of the field after a good call on the river in a hand against Sandro Ruegg.

Joining the hand on the turn, where the board read {5-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{j-Clubs} Ruegg bet 12,200 and Tureniec made the call. The river was the {7-Spades} and Ruegg bet again, this time 16,500, leaving himself around 22,000 behind. Tureniec went into the tank for almost three minute and when he emerged he made the call.

Ruegg acknowledged the call and turned over {a-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}, not good enough to beat Tureniec's {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}

Tureniec Takes Over Lead

Level 7 : 300/600, 50 ante

Michael Tureniec fired out 2,600 on a {k-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{j-Spades} flop against Bodo Sbrzesny who flat-called, the latter then bet 3,200 on the {6-Diamonds} turn when Tureniec checked but the Swede made the call to see the {j-Diamonds} river.

Both players checked and Sbrzesny turned over {q-Clubs}{10-Clubs} never ahead of his opponent's {a-Spades}{j-Hearts}.

Tureniec has 144,000

Liv it Up

Level 7 : 300/600, 50 ante

Liv Boeree shoved for about 8,000 over the top of Luca Pagano's 1,400 button raise, a quick call from the Italian.

Boeree: {k-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}
Pagano: {a-Clubs}{q-Hearts}

Brit-friendly board: {2-Hearts}{9-Spades}{7-Spades}{k-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}

Boeree up to 17,000, Pagano remains with about 50,000.

Christophe De Meulder
Christophe De Meulder

Wow, not one, but both De Meulder brothers showed up in the press room just now, busto within seconds of each other. "Yeah, I came to get a cigarette," said Christophe, "And then like one minute later [Matthias] was smoking with me."
