Hans Down

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Hans Erlandsson rather mistimed a move when he checked-shoved the {k-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{2-Spades} flop to an 80,000 bet from Manilo Iemina. Iemina snap-called all in for around 600,000 and it was a sweat-free double up for him.

Iemina: {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} for top pair, top kicker
Erlandsson: {j-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for absolutely nothing

Turn: {4-Diamonds} eliminating all possibility of runner-runner-anything for Erlandsson

River: an academic {5-Diamonds}

Iemina doubled up to around 1.25 million. Erlandsson was left with a paltry 40,000 and is in all likelihood not long for this tournament.

Geshkenbein Meulyzes the Meulyzer

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Vladimir Geshkenbein - much happier now
Vladimir Geshkenbein - much happier now

Vladimir Geshkenbein in the hijack and Philip Meulyzer on the button saw an {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}{j-Clubs} flop. Geshkenbein bet out 45,000, and Meulyzer made the call.

The turn was the {2-Clubs} and Geshkenbein bet out again - this time a round 100,000. There was a short pause from Meulyzer, and then he called again.

The river was the {8-Diamonds} and Geshkenbein now thought about it for a little while before betting out 238,000, leaving himself just 100,000 behind. Another short tank and then Meulyzer called again -and then promptly mucked to Geshkenbein's {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} full house.

Geshkenbein is now flirting with the million mark again - his stack looked to be at around 960,000 after that. Meulyzer meanwhile is down to a still respectable 915,000.

Iulian Ruxandescu Eliminated in 20th Place (€9,000)

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Iulian Ruxandescu
Iulian Ruxandescu

Iulian Ruxandescu is no more as he just ran into the steam train that is Kevin Vandersmissen.

On a {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} flop Ruxandescu bet 56,000, Vandersmissen min-raised to 122,000 and Ruxandescu then clicked it back too. Vandersmissen moved all in and was instantly called by his Romanian opponent.

Ruxandescu:{q-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} - For a gut shot straight draw and flush draw
Vandersmissen:{9-Hearts}{9-Clubs} - For bottom set.

The dealer burned a card and put the {7-Spades} on the turn, followed by the {q-Hearts} on the river and Vandersmissen's set held to boost him to 3,400,000 chips, almost 25% of the chips in play!

Wiese and Easy

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Vladimir Geshkenbein looks to be getting increasingly frustrated at the felt as his stack dwindles to 420,000.

On a board reading {j-Spades}{k-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} Geshkenbein first check then called a 105,000 bet from Andreas Wiese . The dealer put the {4-Clubs} out on the river and again Geshkenbein checked but this time he folded when Wiese put 260,000 worth of chips into play.

As Geshkenbein folded he shook his head then ordered a vodka and lemon from the waitress. Once that kicks in he may become even more loose, if such a thing is possible!

The Hans that Rux the Cradle...

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

In a 3-bet pot, both Hans Erlandsson (3-bettor) and Iulian Ruxandescu (original raiser) both checked the {k-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} flop to see a {3-Diamonds} turn. Now Erlandsson slid out a bet of 100,000 in the form of 10 blue 10k chips but Ruxandescu brought out two stacks of his own, making it 226,000.

Erlandsson thought for a moment before giving up.

Geshkenbein Getting Meulyzed

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Vladimir Geshkenbein - could soon be putting his coat on for real?
Vladimir Geshkenbein - could soon be putting his coat on for real?

A pretty large pot had formed by the time we witnessed Vladimir Geshkenbein check-calling a 66,000 bet from Philip Meulyzer on the river of a {10-Clubs}{k-Spades}{k-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{5-Spades} board. Meulyzer turned over {j-Spades}{10-Spades} and Geshkenbein mucked, looking a little frustrated.

He's down to around 600,000 now, meaning that he's lost around a third of his stack today. Meulyzer is up to 1.35 million, meaning that he's almost doubled his stack since the start of play.

Fabric of Life

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Christian Fabri shoved, and Giacomo Maisto called. Maisto actually managed to flip his cards before the big blind had acted, but he snatched them back and apologised for his mistake. He was let off and now both players turned their cards over legitimately.

Maisto: {j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}
Fabri: {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}

Board: {6-Spades}{10-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}

It was an easy double up for Fabri; he's now on 280,000. Maisto is still in pretty good shape on 1,135,000.
