Georges Yazbeck Eliminated in 21st Place (€40,000)

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 2,000 ante
Georges Yazbeck
Georges Yazbeck

Georges Yazbeck raised to 45,000 preflop on the button and Torsten Brinkmann called in the small blind to see a {Q-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{5-Spades} flop. Brinkmann checked across to raiser who bet an almost pot-sized 180,000 but the German made the call to see the {4-Diamonds} turn where Brinkmann checked again.

Now Yazbeck moved all in for about 700,000 - an overbet of the pot which sent Brinkmann into the tank for several minutes before he finally made the call.

Yazbeck: {Q-Hearts}{J-Clubs}
Brinkmann: {K-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}

The river was the {8-Spades} and Brinkmann let out a sigh of relief, he's added a big chunk of chips to his stack.

Raemon Sluiter Eliminated in 22nd (€40,000)

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 2,000 ante
Raemon Sluiter
Raemon Sluiter

The Dutch hopes of a deep run for tennis legend Raemon Sluiter have been dashed by a single flopped ace. Sluiter three-bet preflop (130,000) over a 43,000 raise from Tamas Lendvai, which had been called by Simon Higgins. Lendvai moved all-in, Higgins folded (saying he would probably win) and Sluiter instantly called.

Sluiter: {K-Spades}{K-Diamonds}
Lendvai, {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts}

The flop brought a clap from Lendvai, who otherwise remained silent and motionless through the hand: {10-Spades}{A-Spades}{5-Hearts}. The turn and river were {9-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} and a disappointed Sluiter went to give Fatima Moreira de Melo a hug and collect his still reasonable pay check. Meanwhile Higgins maintains he folded fives.

Ole Kristian [Removed:332] Eliminated in 24th (€40,000)

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 2,000 ante
Ole Kristian [Removed:332]
Ole Kristian [Removed:332]

The Day 1 chip leader Ole Kristian [Removed:332] dropped from the giddy heights to the felt-touching lows of chip rankings yesterday in one of the most dramatic hands of the tournament, but seemingly unfazed continued to play in the same calmly aggressive style which had given him his lead in the first place.

His Day 4 was very short - picking up {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts} and getting his 200,000 in preflop vs. Jose Nadal's {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}. The queens held on the {A-Hearts}{A-Spades}{6-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{5-Clubs} board.

Pettersson Doubles Through Yazbeck

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Thomas Pettersson pushed all for his last 200,000 or so from midposition and Georges Yazbeck made a quick call in the next seat along, the cutoff, button and blinds all folded.

Pettersson: {5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}
Yazbeck: {A-Clubs}{8-Clubs}

The flop came {10-Spades}{2-Hearts}{5-Clubs} and it looked pretty much done and dusted but the {3-Clubs} on the turn was the best card in the deck for Yazbeck, now he had a gutshot and a flush draw. The {2-Clubs} came on the river and Yazbeck fistpumped only to suddenly be in agony when he realised Pettersson had now had a full house.

It's a topsy-turvy game.

Gard Up

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Ole Kristian [Removed:332] has doubled up, a pretty impressive feat considering he was all in preflop with {j-Spades}{8-Clubs} against Jose Nadal's {K-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} and the flop then came {6-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}. Somehow the board bricked, coming {2-Clubs} and {6-Clubs} and the Norwegian youngster has survived for now.

Cultural Differences Leave Li 600k Short

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Apologies to Andrew Li, who spent the night with 104,000 but came back today with the 704,000 he actually finished with. Something about 1 and 7 being rather similar without that cross thingy over here - we need to work on our bilingual bag-reading skills.
