Good Start For Greenwood

There was an early position raise to 250 and a call from Team Pokerstars Luca Pagano before Max Greenwood pulled out a squeeze play from the button. The price was 775 and both players paid their dues.

Flop: {5-Spades} {5-Diamonds} {10-Spades}

Both players checked to Greenwood who bet 1,500 and only the initial raiser called. They both checked the turn of {10-Clubs} before Greenwood squeezed 3,000 of value from his opponent on the river {4-Diamonds}. Greenwood holding the ladies and his opponent mucked his cards unseen.

And We Are Off!

We have just started here at Day 1b EPT San Remo. Here is a run down of the notables that we have spotted passing registration. Joe Cada, Liv Boeree, Vanessa Selbst, Juan Manuel Pastor, Manuel Bevand, Randy Nanononko, Barry Greenstein, Alex Wice, Nicolo Calia, Luca Pagano, David Vamplew, Davidi Kitai, Lex Veldhuis, Max Lykov, Erik Van Den Berg and Kevin MacPhee.

A Little Longer

Some players are sitting down but there are still many more attempting to get in, we've been told that the tournament will be starting at 2pm, so at the moment (pending further delays) that is the time when everything here will be kicking off.

Day 1b Delayed

Casino San Remo
Casino San Remo

Good afternoon and welcome back to the grand old Casino San Remo, perhaps the loveliest stop on the EPT circuit. Yesterday we saw 438 players do battle, with 2010 EPT Berlin side event winner Leonid Bilokur coming out on top at the end of play on 187,900. We are unlikely to beat last year's field of 1,240, but this is still looking to be a very fine turnout and we're probably looking at a total field of around a thousand.

Among those expected to take to the felt today are reigning champion Liv Boeree, along with her fellow Team PokerStars Pros Bertrand "Elky" Grospellier, Luca Pagano and Dario Minieri, EPT Berlin winner Kevin MacPhee and 2010 World Champion Jonathan Duhamel.

After yesterday's long delay in starting the tournament following a rather slower than usual registration process (and you may notice that noon has been and gone) the official start time has been pushed back to a projected 1.30pm - although it could yet prove to be later still. We'll keep you posted on any further developments, but whatever happens we're going to see a great Day 1b commence at roughly lunchtime. See you then.
