2011 PokerStars.it EPT San Remo
Level: 18
Blinds: 4,000/8,000
Ante: 500
There is certainly not a dull moment when Gianluca Benvenuto is in the action. He just made a standard raise from under the gun when Rupert Elder three-bet from the button with a bet of 46,000. The blinds mucked their cards and Benvenuto four-bet to 120,000. Elder, who recently cashed in EPT Berlin as well now in EPT San Remo five-bet jammed. Benvenuto asked for a count and it was 344,000 and he folded his hand.
Then in the next hand he was responsible for doubling up former EPT champion Carter Phillips. Phillips made a raise with
and Benvenuto decided to move Phillips all-in when it folded round to him in the big blind. Phillips was expecting it and he made the call. Benvenuto was holding
, the board remained free of both digits and Phillips moved up to 132,000
Wow, that was weird.
Ted Forrest called a raise of 16,000 from Kevin Vandersmissen to see a flop of

. The five-time bracelet winner check-called a bet of 15,500 before suddenly open shoving 195,000 on the
turn. Vandersmissen snap-called with
and Forrest showed an inferior
which stayed behind on the
river.
Casey Kastle has been eliminated.
He was down to approx. 34,000 when he tripled up holding
versus
and
after spiking a King. He then put the lot in the middle with
and was called by his opponent holding
and his opponent spiked a three to end his mini-rejuvenation before it had even started - on the

board.
Nicola Boldini is up to 750,000 after managing to get his stack in with
against Germano Martucci's
on a flop of

, Boldini was down and out but the
turn combined with the
made Boldini an unlikely wheel. Martucci is left with 300,000.
Battle of the microstacks now as Carter Phillips raised under the gun for most of his stack and Jonas Linde-Fink called all in from the small blind for not very much at all.
Phillips:

Linde-Fink:

Board:

Linde-Fink doubled to just about 70,000; Phillips was left with 95,000 or so.
Germano Martucci has forgiven the poker gods for that little incident with the set and the runner-runner straight - he's just cracked Sergey Altbregin's aces with
, the board running out

. Altbregin is rather less happy about this - he is out.
The flop read

when Francesco Delfoco went all in. Riccardo Lacchinelli called, and they were on their backs.
Delfoco:
for top pair
Lacchinelli:
for a flush draw
Turn:
giving Lacchinelli straight outs too
River:
bringing Lachinelli absolutely nothing.
Delfoco doubled to 340,000 and Lacchinelli was left with just 70,000. They shook hands like gentlemen. Lovely to see in this day and age.
We joined the play with a board showing both flop and turn -
. Paolo Rigano checked from the big blind and Georgios Manousos also checked in the cut off. The river was the
and there was 70,000 in the pot. Rigano bet 41,500 and Manousos made the call. Rigano peeled over
for a flopped full house.
