Sick Call

Level 8 : 400/800, 75 ante
Sick Call by Romanello
Sick Call by Romanello

Roberto Romanello is famous for his ability to lay a hand down. He has just shown us that he also has the ability to call down a bluff under very light circumstances.

Luca Topazio opened to 1,800 from the button and Roberto Romanello defended the big blind. The dealer laid {8-Diamonds} {7-Clubs} {6-Diamonds} on the felt and Romanello check-called a 1,800 Topazio bet. Both players checked the {2-Hearts} turn before the final card was delivered and it was the bluff inducing {a-Spades}.

Romanello checked to Topazio who bet 9,000 and Romanello went into thought mode. Topazio was staring straight into Romanello, but he was refusing to take his headphones off, as Romanello desperately tried to gain some more information. Eventually Topazio took off one earphone and Romanello shouted to him.

"I think you have jack-ten."

After long deliberation and plenty of prodding and questioning the Welshman called and what a call it was. Topazio tapped the felt and showed the lone {5-Clubs} before folding the other card. Incredibly Romanello peeled over {q-Diamonds} {j-Spades} for a ace high hand with a queen kicker.

"Sick call," said Romanello.

That it was.
