Pastor Doubles Huge with Set

Juan Manuel Pastor
Juan Manuel Pastor

On the feature table, Team PokerStars Pro Juan Manuel Pastor checked the {J-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{9-Spades} board before Jeremy Kottler bet 140,000. Adria Balaguer called and then Andre Klebanov also called before action moved back to Pastor. He hemmed and hawed for a few minutes before finally raised all in for around one million. Kottler and Balaguer folded, but after a couple minutes in the tank, Klebanov called.

Klebanov: {A-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}
Pastor: {4-}{4-}

The river landed with the {10-Spades} and Pastor let out a giant sigh of relief as he dodged the river to double up.

Heart Broken

Pascal Hartmann - 15th Place
Pascal Hartmann - 15th Place

Pascal Hartmann has had an extremely rough day here on Day 5. Why do we say that? Well, he's had his aces cracked not once, not twice, but three times. The most recent one caused his elimination in 15th place, but let's quickly recap the others.

Earlier in the day, Joao Barbosa (17th place) doubled through Hartmann. Barbosa was all in preflop with the {A-Hearts}{K-Spades} to Hartmann's {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}. The board ran out {K-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{K-Clubs} and Barbosa spiked trip kings.

Later on, Hartmann paid off Steve O'Dwyer in a big pot on a final board of {J-Spades}{J-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{7-Spades}{J-Diamonds}. Again, Hartmann held aces, but O'Dwyer held the {K-Clubs}{J-Clubs} for quads.

And now to the final hand...

Hartmann was all in preflop with the aces and up against the {A-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for Anatoly Gurtovoy. The board ran out in such a way that Gurtovoy spiked a gutshot straight on the river to eliminate Hartmann from the event.

Sometimes it's just not your day.

Spindler Spikes Straight to Bust Loureiro

Benny Spindler raised to 80,000 and Hugo Loureiro reraised all in for 335,000. Action got back to Spindler and he made the call with the {9-Hearts}{8-Hearts}. Loureiro held the {A-Hearts}{5-Hearts}.

The flop came down {A-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{7-Hearts} and paired both players. The {6-Spades} on the turn gave Spindler a straight draw and the river completed that draw with the {10-Clubs} falling.

Iacofano Eliminates Mitchell

James Mitchell - 11th Place
James Mitchell - 11th Place

the 2010 Irish Open champion James Mitchell has just fallen in 11th place. He moved all in for a tad over 400,000 at 405,000 after Kevin Iacofano opened with a raise to 85,000. Action fell back on Iacofano and he quickly made the call holding {Q-}{Q-}. Mitchell could only muster to turn over the {3-}{3-} and after a board on no help, was left with nothing but the felt in front of him.
