Bubble Time

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

It is that time of the tournament where some poor sod is going to go home with nothing but a sob story to tell their friends and family.

Vamplew Doubles Through Wheeler on the Bubble

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
David Vamplew
David Vamplew

Jason Wheeler raised to 8,500 from middle position and David Vamplew reraised to 19,500 a couple of seats down. Wheeler moved all in and Vamplew called, a crowd gathered and the hand went to showdown with the former EPT London champion the player at risk.

Wheeler: {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}
Vamplew: {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}

The flop came {K-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{4-Hearts} and Vamplew took the lead, no doubt to the disappointment of several short stacks, the {6-Spades} turn and {6-Diamonds} river changed nothing and Vamplew scooped a sizeable 200k+ pot to leave Wheeler down to around 30,000.

Ioannis Papadopoylos Eliminated Just Short of the Bubble

Tobias Garp raised in the cut off, Ioannis Papadopoylos moved all-in on the button holding {A-Spades} {K-Clubs} and Garp called with {8-Clubs} {8-Diamonds}. The board was {7-Hearts} {6-Diamonds} {6-Spades} {5-Hearts} {2-Clubs} and Garp was up to a half a million.

"Your run good continues," said one of the players at Garp's table.

Papathanasioy Smack Elder Again!

As we fast approach the bubble Ioannis Papathanasioy has decided to help himself to Ruper Elders stack. He just doubled up through Elder with pocket aces and then this happened.

Elder raised to 8,000 from first position and Papathanasioy cold-called on the button which also brought the big blind along for the ride. The flop was the {10-Clubs} {3-Spades} {2-Diamonds} and Elder bet 12,500 when checked to. Papathanasioy made the call and the big blind folded and the two new foes saw the turn of {J-Diamonds}. Elder liked it and he bet 28,000 but Papathanasioy raised the bar slightly higher with a raise to 64,000 and Elder made the call. The river was the {5-Spades} and both players couldn't check quick enough.

"I have ace high," said a sheepish Papathanasioy showing {A-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts}

Incredibly, ace high was good as Elder mucked his cards and Papathanasioy could not believe it.

A Dent To Elder

Ioannis Papathanasioy has just smashed into the stack of Rupert Elder and caused a huge dent. We didn't see the pre flop action but Rupert Elder was in the small blind and Ioannis Papathanasioy was in middle position and it was an all-in confrontation.

Papathanasioy{A-Diamonds} {A-Clubs}
Elder{A-Spades} {K-Diamonds}

Board: {10-Hearts} {9-Clubs} {7-Diamonds} {4-Clubs} {4-Diamonds}

Elder is still the chip leader but is down to 524,000 chips.

Roger, Over and Out

Roger Hairabedian got his last 25,000 in preflop with {A-}{K-} against Panagiotis Koyloykakos' {A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds} and Jose Maria Felices' {J-Clubs}{J-Hearts} - the board came {2-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} and Koyloykakos doubled through Felices and eliminated Hairabedian at the same time.
