Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 400 ante
Irene Baroni escapes the bubble
Irene Baroni escapes the bubble

The third bubble showdown came courtesy of the blind battle. It was Irene Baroni in the small blind and Stefan Jedlicka in the big blind. We are not sure of the exact raising action but Baroni was the player at risk.

Baroni{q-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds}
Jedlicka{a-Spades} {j-Clubs}

The flop brought a flush draw for Baroni {k-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds} {7-Hearts}.

The turn was the {j-Hearts} but then the river was the {j-Diamonds} and Baroni gave out a little yell of excitement and doubled up.

Subbotin Takes One From Sarwer

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 400 ante

Jeff Sarwer raised to 8,000 in the cut-off and Andrey Subbotin called in the big blind. The flop was {8-Clubs} {q-Diamonds} {6-Hearts} and Subbotin check-called a 10,700 Sarwer bet. The action shut down after that when both players checked the {7-Spades} turn and the {6-Spades} river.

Sihvo Takes On The Big Stack, And Wins

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 400 ante

Lari Sihvo is not afraid to mix it up with small suited connectors, having won a huge amount of chips from the now-busto Nikolas Liakos with {4-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} and now he has just won a decent pot from our chip leader, Grzegorz Cichocki with {6-Hearts}{4-Hearts}.

On a flop reading {5-Spades}{7-Clubs}{8-Spades} Cichocki check-raised Sihvo's 11,000 bet to 23,000 but it was not enough to fold out the Finn as he called. The turn was the {4-Clubs} and Cichocki bet 52,000 and was quickly called. The Pole slowed down when the {J-Hearts} showed up on the river, opting to check but then call Sihvo's 84,000 bet.

Sihvo turned over {6-Hearts}{4-Hearts} for a straight, a hand that Cichocki could not beat and he mucked.

Second bubble showdown

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 400 ante

Stuart Fox tried to burst the bubble but failed in his attempt to eliminate Vitaly Grigoryev from Russia.

Grigoryev raised to 12,000 from the small blind and Fox defended to see the {6-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} flop. Grigoryev continued with a 18,000 bet before Fox set him in for the 79,000 he had back. Call.

Fox: {4-Clubs}{5-Hearts} for an open ended straight draw.
Grigoryev: {a-Spades}{q-Clubs} for top-top.

A crowd of players and press swarmed the table but were left disappointed when the {7-Diamonds}{a-Clubs} turn and river failed to bring in the draw.

Ronnie Kaiser Hits Sointula Hard

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 400 ante
Ronny Kaiser
Ronny Kaiser

Ronnie Kaiser just won a big pot from Jani Sointula.

He raised under the gun making it 8,000 to play and Sointula called to his direct left. The flop was {a-Spades} {4-Diamonds} {q-Clubs} and Kaiser check-called a 12,000 Sointula bet. The turn was the {j-Spades} and once again Kaiser checked the action over to Sointula. The Finn bet 22,000 and again Kaiser just called. The dealer gave us the {9-Diamonds} and Kaiser checked for a third time and Sointula bet for a third time. It was 48,000 and then Kaiser surprised everyone by check-raising to 160,000 (leaving only 90,000 behind). Sointula made lots of funny noises before eventually making the call.

Sointula{4-Hearts} {4-Spades}

Sointula Finds the Straight on the River

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 400 ante

We caught the tail end of a huge pot between Jani Sointula and Albert Mykhaylyuta that has left Mykhaylyuta with steam coming out of his ears.

The board was {k-Spades} {6-Diamonds} {10-Clubs} {7-Spades} and Mykhaylyuta checked to Sointula who bet 72,500. Mykhaylyuta counted out the bet in increments of 10k and made the call. The river was the {8-Clubs} and once again Mykhaylyuta checked to Sointula and this time he bet 75,000 and again counting the ball out in increments of 10k he made the call. Sointula turned over {6-Hearts} {9-Spades} for the rivered straight and Mykhaylyuta slammed down {a-Hearts} {a-Diamonds} in frustration.

Mykhaylyuta ~ 84,000
Sointula ~ 605,000
