EPT Grand Final: 26 to Our Final Table of Eight

Geert-Jan Potijk: the one to catch
Geert-Jan Potijk: the one to catch

Welcome back to the 2012 PokerStars and Monte-Carlo® Casino EPT Grand Final. At this stage we normally have 24 players remaining but after eight levels of play yesterday we still hadn't reached that magic number. The tournament directors had a look at how tired the players were and sensibly decided to halt play at the end of level 22.

No player was more tired than the end of day chip leader Geert-Jan Potijk (1.32m chips) who had a draining day playing under the lights of the TV set. He struggled to even count his own stack at the end he was that tired. At the other end of the spectrum was Jason Wheeler who looked like he could have played all night, such was his energy and confidence. That confidence is still evident coming into today, highlighted by his FaceBook status this morning that read, "Note to pokerstars....you should probably sign me now...price goes up in two days..."

Both Potijk and Wheeler have to navigate their way to the final table before they can worry about the title, and there are 18 players standing in their way. That's our aim for the day - to make 26 look like eight, final table set, bag and tag, goodnight.

Play is due to start at midday (CET), so please join us back here then then.
