Leon Tsoukernik: Freerolling

Leon Tsoukernik the 2012 craps champion of the world
Leon Tsoukernik the 2012 craps champion of the world

Intrepid reporter Donnie Peters told you earlier how Leon Tsoukernik won around €70,000 playing craps during the dinner break before being eliminated at the hands of Philipp Gruissem. He just told everyone he will be right back after winning his second bullet, once again on the craps table, and to his credit a few minutes later he returned with over €100,000 of craps money to buy his second bullet.

Easy life!

The Mizzi Machine

Sorel Mizzi is looking ominous out there today. He looks fit as a fiddle on the outside and his game seems to be on point. Here he is taking a hand away from Team PokerStars Pro Eugene Katchalov to stretch his lead in this tournament.

Mizzi made a standard open before Katchalov three-bet to 21,000 one seat to his left. Mizzi made the call and the pair were soon staring at a flop of {8-Spades} {2-Spades} {2-Diamonds}. Mizzi check-called a 16,000 bet and then did the same at the sight of the {J-Diamonds} on the turn; this time for 36,000. The final card was the {3-Clubs}, both players checked and Mizzi picked up the pot with {A-Spades} {Q-Spades}. Katchalov mucked {A-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds}.

ElkY Doubles Through Trickett

ElkY gets there on the river
ElkY gets there on the river

Sam Trickett raised to 8,000, under the gun, and Phil Ivey called on the button. Bertrand "ElkY" Grospeller was short in the small blind and he saw it as a good opportunity to get his chips in the middle. In they went, and Trickett asked for a count. The dealer confirmed it as 102,000 and Trickett moved enough chips in the middle to scare off Phil Ivey and we had a showdown with ElkY at risk of elimination.

ElkY{J-Hearts} {10-Hearts}
Trickett{A-Spades} {J-Spades}

So Trickett had ElkY in a spot of bother, but as we know in poker, things can change quite quickly.

Flop: {K-Hearts} {7-Hearts} {4-Diamonds}

ElkY picked up a flush draw.

Turn: {7-Clubs}

ElkY needed a heart or a ten or he was out.

River: {5-Hearts}

The heart saved ElkY on the river and as usual Trickett took it all in his stride.

Tsoukernik Gone

Leon Tsoukernik has just busted. After Philipp Gruissem raised to 9,000 from middle position, Leon Tsoukernik reraised all in for 61,500 from the big blind. After tanking for a bit and having a friendly chat with Tsoukernik, Gruissem made the call holding the {10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}. Tsoukernik held a dominating {A-Hearts}{8-Clubs}, but the board ran out {9-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{4-Spades}{J-Hearts}{10-Clubs} and busted him.

Upon leaving, Tsoukernik said he was heading over to the craps table, where he told the table he won €70,000 on dinner break. He also said that he would see everyone tomorrow, so he may still be planning to re-enter the event. We'll see if he does and keep you posted.

Mizzi Over 700K

We picked up the action on the {K-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} flop with about 50,000 chips already in the middle and Sorel Mizzi pitted against Scott Seiver. Mizzi fired 27,500 and Seiver raised all in. He had Mizzi covered and Mizzi had 299,000 behind, so this was a big raise. Mizzi knew that and even said it out loud while he thought. Eventually, he made the call.

Mizzi: {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}
Seiver: {Q-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}

The turn was the {3-Hearts} and river the {8-Clubs}. Mizzi's aces held up and he doubled through Seiver, who was left with under 100,000 in chips.
