Govert Metaal Eliminates Dieter Albrecht

Govert Metaal has just eliminated Dieter Albrecht. He has not immediately reloaded so we will assume he is out of this competition until we here otherwise. We didn't see the hand play out but Metaal told us the majority of the action.

Metaal completed from the small blind before Albrecht raised making it 5,000 to play. Metaal called and the pair saw a flop of {8-} {8-} {3-} (one diamond) and both players checked. The turn was second diamond, Metaal bet 5,000 and Albrecht called. The river was the {2-Diamonds} and Metaal bet 13,000, Albrecht moved all-in and Metaal called. Metaal was holding {2-} {2-} for the full house and he assumes Albrecht held the flush but he didn't show his hand.

McDonald Gets Two Streets From Metaal

Mike McDonald raised to 4,800 in the cutoff and Govert Metaal called in the big blind. The flop was {A-Diamonds} {10-Spades} {9-Spades} and Metaal check-called a 6,600 McDonald bet. Fourth street was the {Q-Hearts} and the same action ensued; this time for 13,500. Finally the river card was laid flat on its back - {10-Hearts} - and Metaal folded to a 33,000 McDonald river bet.

Chip Counts on Table One

Tony G has just joined table one and here is a quick round-up of what he is up against.

Blom Doubles with Aces

Scott Seiver and Viktor Blom got into a raising war preflop that saw all of the money go in. Blom tabled the {A-Diamonds}{A-Spades} and was well ahead of the {7-Hearts}{7-Spades} for Seiver. Blom was the player at risk for 138,500 in chips and doubled up after the board ran out {K-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{8-Hearts}.

A Few Updated Chip Counts

Reinkemeier Bests Metaal with Jacks

From the hijack seat, Tobias Reinkemeier raised to 5,000. Govert Metaal three-bet to 12,800 on the button and Reinkemeier called. The flop came down {10-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} and Reinkemeier check-called a bet of 16,000 from Metaal.

The turn was the {4-Diamonds} and Reinkemeier checked. Metaal bet 35,000 and Reinkemeier called. The river was the {2-Clubs} and both players checked.

Metaal showed the {A-Hearts}{2-Hearts} and Reinkemeier the {J-Spades}{J-Clubs}. Reinkemeier's jacks were best and he won the pot.

Hansen Has a Jack

Gus Hansen raised to 4,000 in the hijack seat and Daniel Cates called on the button. The dealer handed the pair a flop of {K-Clubs} {J-Spades} {8-Spades} and both players checked. The turn card was the {2-Hearts} and Hansen led for 5,100, a bet that was quickly called by Cates. Finally we saw the {5-Diamonds} and after much contemplation, Hansen checked as did Cates.

"I have a jack," said Hansen.

"With what?" Asked Cates.

Hansen shows the {A-Clubs} {J-Hearts} and Cates mucks his hand.

Not Much For Duhamel

Jonathan Duhamel raised to 3,700 on the button and Anatoly Gurtovoy defended his small blind. The flop was {K-Diamonds} {10-Spades} {6-Hearts} and Gurtovoy check-called a 6,000 Duhamel c-bet. That endeth the action as both players checked through to the river at the sight of the {3-Hearts} turn and {3-Diamonds} river. Duhamel flicked over {9-Spades} {7-Clubs} and Gurtovoy scooped the pot with {Q-Hearts} {10-Hearts}.
