Kursevich Straightens Out Mercier

Vadim Kursevich
Vadim Kursevich

We're not sure of the preflop action, but we do know that Vadzim Kursevich ended up all in for 112,000 with {A-Spades}{7-Clubs} and was in dire straits against the {A-Clubs}{K-Spades} of Team PokerStars Pro Jason Mercier.

The {6-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{8-Spades} flop gave Kursevich a gut-shot straight draw, meaning he was looking for either a five or seven to take the lead. Wouldn't you know it, the {5-Diamonds} spiked on the turn to give him a guaranteed double. Mercier knew he was drawing dead and took to Twitter even before the meaningless {10-Diamonds} was put out on the river.

Jacks for Bonomo

Before the last break, Peter Jetten raised to 7,500 from under the gun and Justin Bonomo called from the small blind. The flop came down {K-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} and Bonomo checked. Jetten bet 12,000 and Bonomo called.

The turn was the {9-Spades} and Bonomo checked. Jetten bet 30,000 and Bonomo called again.

The river completed the board with the {2-Clubs} and both players checked. Jetten showed the {Q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for queen high and Bonomo the {J-Hearts}{J-Spades}. Bonomo's hand was the winner and he collected the pot.

Kagawa Puts His Tournament Life on the Line

Just prior to the last break, Dan Smith raised to 7,500 under the gun only to have Masa Kagawa move all in from middle position. The rest of the field got out of the way and Smith made the call.

Showdown

Smith{5-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}
Kagawa{A-Clubs}{Q-Spades}

It was a classic race, but Kagawa needed to improve if he were to keep his tournament hopes alive. Unfortunately for him, the board ran out an uneventful {10-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{8-Clubs} and he was sent out the door.

"Rebuy?" Ilari Sahamies asked. Kagawa didn't give a firm answer but seemed to respond in the affirmative, so only time will tell if he decides to fire a second bullet.

Reinkemeier Doubles Through Bonomo

Just before the last break, Justin Bonomo called Tobias Reinkemeier's shove on the {J-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{8-Clubs} board holding the {9-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}. Reinkemeier had the {K-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} and successfully doubled to 220,000 after the river completed the board with the {J-Spades}. He's now back to 220,000 in chips while Bonomo dropped to 218,000.
