Morten Mortensen Eliminated in 10th Place (€55,100)

Morten Mortensen
Morten Mortensen

After John Juanda had opened with a raise, a short-stacked Morten Mortensen moved all in for 235,000. Juanda didn't seem thrilled, but made a hesitant call nonetheless.

Showdown
Juanda: {5-Spades}{4-Clubs}
Mortensen: {K-Spades}{8-Hearts}

Mortensen was ahead, but Juanda got a good sweat with the {Q-Spades}{3-Clubs}{A-Spades} flop as either a deuce, five or four would give him the win. The {10-Diamonds} wasn't what he needed, but the {4-Hearts} river was. Mortensen closed his eyes for a brief moment before exiting the Main Stage in 10th place for €55,100.

Duda Doubles; Mortensen Crippled

After John Juanda opened from the cutoff and Morten Mortensen three-bet from the button, Antonin Duda four-bet all in for 1.365 million from the small blind. Juanda quickly got out of the way, and Mortensen tanked for a solid two minutes before making the call.

Showdown
Mortensen: {A-Diamonds}{10-Spades}
Duda: {Q-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}

Mortensen made a good call with the best hand, but Duda was drawing live. The {2-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} flop didn't hit Duda directly, but it gave him both an open-ended straight draw and a flush draw. The latter was filled on the {3-Diamonds} turn, and Mortensen would miss his ace-high flush redraw as the {9-Hearts} peeled off on the river.

Jonathan Karamalikis Eliminated in 11th Place (€46,700)

Jonathan Karamalikis - 11th place
Jonathan Karamalikis - 11th place

It was a cruel end for Jonathan Karamalikis. He fell to Ole Schemion after getting his chips with in great shape.

The Australian opened to 80,000 from under the gun and was three-bet to 185,000 from Schemion in the cut-off. Sinel Anton looked like he wanted to get involved but tank-folded to leave the action back on Karamalikis. He put in a four-bet to 265,000 and then snapped off when Schemion shoved.

Schemion: {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}
Karamalikis: {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts}

The board ran {a-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} to hit the three-outer for the German's hand. Karamalikis was very gracious in defeat.

Jouhkimainen in Need of an Eight

We didn't catch the initial betting actions in the hand, but we do know Joni Jouhkimainen had put in a raise to 140,000 and John Juanda moved all in. Jouhkimainen proceeded to call off for 765,000 and discovered the bad news.

Showdown
Juanda: {A-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}
Jouhkimainen: {A-Spades}{8-Clubs}

Both players paired their ace on the {5-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} flop, but Juanda's kicker had him well out in front. The {2-Diamonds} turn meant Jouhkimainen needed one of the three remaining eights on the river to stay alive, and wouldn't you know it, the {8-Diamonds} spiked on the river. Neither Jouhkimainen nor Juanda reacted at all, but the fact remained the former got lucky to double through the latter.
