Xuan Liu got mixed up in a pot with a lot of raises and there was some confusion over what constituted a raise.
She opened to 250 from the hijack before Paul Michaelis on the button three-bet to 600. Josh Prager was in the big blind and called before Lui put it a four-bet (I think to 1,800). Michaelis called but Prager was scared off.
The flop came down and Lui led for 1,300 and was raised to 3,125. Her response was to three-bet to 5,100. Michaelis wasn't to be muscled off the hand and put in a four-bet to 5,1000. Lui through in two 5k chips and the German made a quick call thinking it was a raise. Lui insisted it was a call and changed the 5k chip for a 100 value chip. A floor-man was in attendance and said it was a call as the two chips she through in were of the same value and one of them alone was not enough to call the last raise.
Michaelis asked Lui, "Fake raise?"
The turn came and Lui quickly check-folded to a 4,625 bet.
Michaelis said to Lui, "That was a good way of getting a free card as you were never going to call another raise."
After an early-position player raised to 250, Yevgeniy Timoshenko reraised to 750. Team PokerStars Pro Alex Kravchenko and Athanasios Polychronopoulos called before action folded back to the original raiser. He four-bet to 4,250 and everyone folded.
From middle position, Dominik Nitsche raised to 300. The player in the next spot three-bet to 800 and action folded back to Nitsche. He called and took a flop. Nitsche checked, then folded to his opponent's continuation bet of 1,200.
The player under the gun opened the pot with a limp which certainly didn't bother Jakob Karlsson because he raised to 450 next to act. This folded out the rest of the players right up to Fabrice Soulier in the small blind and he called and when Jonathan Duhamel folded his big blind the UTG player put in the extra chips to make the call.
The dealer put out thee flop, Soulier checked, the UTG player checked and Karlsson bet 1,100. This was a bet that only Soulier called. The turn brought the into the equation but neither player wanted to make a bet and they checked. The river was the and Soulier checked again. Karlsson bet 3,500 into the Frenchman and 10 seconds later Soulier folded and Karlsson won an early pot.
Fabrice Soulier is back for more EPT action after his third place finish at EPT Campione, and he's right back where he wants to be; in the middle of the action. He's on the secondary feature table and had Jonathan Duhamel sat directly to his left. He tangled with Cengiz Ulusu and came out the better.
The two were heads up to a flop and Ulusu led for 2,050. The Frenchman raised to 5,150 from early position and Ulusu called. The turn came and Soulier bet 5,150 when he was checked to. The Israeli gave a smile and folded.
Team PokerStars Pro Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier has helped himself to a small pot early on, announcing his arrival by doing what he does best; raising the stakes.
The Frenchman was seated under the gun and he opened to 250 and the action folded all the way to Adolfo Vaeza in the small blind. He checked his cards, then double checked them before making the call. The big blind folded and it was heads-up to the flop.
Vaeza checked to ElkY and he quickly checked behind but there was no such passivity when the landed on the turn because when Vaeza checked ElkY bet 500 and he took down the hand.
Action folded over to a player in middle position and he raised to 400. Mike "Timex" McDonald called from the hijack seat, the player on the button called and then Kenny Shih three-bet to 1,550 from the small blind. Play folded back to the original raiser and he called. McDonald also called, but the button got out of the way.
The flop came down and Shih bet 2,700. His middle-position opponent fired in a raise to 5,500 and McDonald folded. Shih thought for a minute and then also gave it up.
