Welcome back gentle reader to coverage from Day 2 of the European Poker Tour Berlin Main Event where in just a few minutes time the 329 player who made it through from the two starting days are united for the first time in the luxurious Hyatt hotel's vast ballroom.
Each of the 329 hopefuls share a common goal - survive the day. Simple as that. They will have to battle it out at the felt for six 75-minute levels if they are to accomplish that goal. If they do make it through Day 2 they will be one step closer to the money places and that massive €825,000 first place prize.
There are still a whole host of big names in the field and some of them have inevitably ended up on the same table as each other. Some potentially interesting match-ups include Anton Makiievskyi and William Thorson (Table 13), Kevin MacPhee, Dominik Nitsche, Heinze Kamutzki and Giuseppe Pantaleo (Table 14), Will Molson, Jake Cody, Davidi Kitai, Andrew Chen and Mihai Manole (Table 18), ElkY and Viktor Blom (Table 19), Dmitry Vitkind, Michael "Sir Watts" Watson, Vladimir Geshkenbein and Jan Heitmann (Table 20). The list goes on and on!
Hold onto your hats ladies and gentlemen this could be an explosive one!

Pierre Neauville was the first player out today. The Team PokerStars Pro looked down on the first hand and saw ace-king. He moved all-in and was called by Kai Kumpulainen in the next seat. The Finn had pocket sevens and the first card out was another seven. Good game, thanks for popping in.

From under the gun, Boris Caleta opened with a raise to 2,500. A few seats over in middle position, Australia's Kristian Lunardi flatted the raise before play folded to Paul Vas Nunes in the cutoff seat. He put in a three-bet to 8,000. Everyone folded back to Caleta and he also gave it up. Lunardi had other things in mind and fired back with a back-raise to 14,000. Vas Nunes jammed and Lunardi called off his last 30,000 or so.
Lunardi:
Vas Nunes:
Vas Nunes nailed a seven on the flop to take the lead as the dealer ran out the . The turn left Lunardi needing a king to win or a four to chop, but the on the river failed to keep him in the game and he was sent to the rail.
Vas Nunes moved up to 155,000 in chips.

Oliver Busquet was just knocked back to the starting stack amount of 30,000 after a little tangle with Italian Pietro Sibione. After Sibione raised to 2,500 from under the gun, Busquet reraised to 5,500 from middle position. Sibione called and took the flop out of position against Busquet.
Sibione check-raised the flop to 11,100 after Busquet bet 5,000 with a single blue chip. After some thought, Busquet called to see the land on fourth street. Action here went check, check and that was followed by the dealer placing the out on the river. Sibione fired 13,500 and Busquet gave it up.

When we discovered Cengiz Ulusu was the chip leader yesterday it sparked some interesting facts, one of which was that he based a major decision at the EPT Dortmund final table by tossing a coin. Now he has reverted to using dice!
Stephan Rach opened from late position to 2,600 and after Boris Becker folded the cutoff Ulusu checked his cards, rolled two dice, hit a 12 and then three-bet to 7,600. Rach sat for one minute before making the call.
The flop came down and Rach checked. Ulusu instantly checked behind. The turn was the and Rach checked again but this time Ulusu didn't check behind, instead he fired a bet of 8,600 whch gave Rach something to think about. he thought for at least 90 seconds before folding his hand.
We do wonder if they hand would have played out any differently had Ulusu rolled a number other than 12.

We lost less players yesterday than expected for ten levels in to the structure. The structure always comes out on top in the end though and it helped spit a load of players out today. The below all departed in the first 30-minutes.
